Flights operated on Wednesdays and Sundays. Operation starts on June 2, 2024
Azores Airlines has just announced that from June 2, 2024, it will operate between Ponta Delgada and Faro twice aweek.
The flights will take place on Wednesdays and Sundays, departing from Ponta Delgada at 09:00 and from Faro at 12:25. The flight between the two cities will last approximately two hours and twenty-five minutes and operated on Airbus A320 equipment with a capacity for 168 seats. In this way, the carrier increases the range of destinations it operates in mainland Portugal, adding Faro to Lisbon and Porto, which it serves regularly throughout the year.
Located in the central Algarve, Portugal’s southernmost region, Faro International Airport is the main gateway for tourists to the area and the second-largest external gateway for passengers in Portugal.
With this initiative, the airline seeks to consolidate its position in the domestic market, expand its portfolio of routes and increase the connectivity of the network in the Azores, for example, allowing tourists who originate in North America to choose to stay in the Azores or continue their journey to a range of varied destinations in Portugal (Lisbon, Porto, and Faro) and the islands (Madeira) and other European destinations, such as Paris, Frankfurt, Barcelona, or Bilbao.

The key to seeing any celestial phenomenon is pretty obvious: You must be in the right place at the right time. While the exact location and time changes with every astronomical event, the right place is undeniably somewhere far away from any light pollution. These days, unless you make your way to a dark sky park, finding a spot on land that’s far away enough from civilization isn’t easy, so why not take to the seas? In the middle of the ocean, chances of street lights ruining your stargazing experience are very thin, that’s why cruise lines are ramping up their astronomy at sea offerings, including northern lights cruises, solar eclipse cruises, and more.

Whether it’s a Moroccan-influenced Chicken & Shrimp Kefta with a Vietnamese-style Nuoc Cham dipping sauce, or a Green Thai Curry Hummus with both English and Wasabi peas, Chef Jason Neroni of the newly-opened The Desmond restaurant has California Cuisine speaking with a lot of different accents. “We’re buying everything we can from the area,” says Neroni, “then we craft it with global influences. That gives us no boundaries — we’ve got a lot of different palates traveling through here and we can make them all very happy.”
