Virgin Atlantic is expanding its network with the addition of three "new" destinations.
United Airlines recently announced it will be discontinuing its in-flight paper magazine, Hemispheres. The travel magazine offered travel inspiration and updates on United’s routes, as well as flight and airport terminal information. In recognition of the magazine’s final issue, United is giving MileagePlus members the opportunity to receive the final issue. “We’re offering select MileagePlus members the exclusive chance to get their own free copy of the final print issue of Hemispheres magazine while supplies last,” United shares on the website. In order to request one of the limited-quantity issues, travelers must log-in on the promotional site with their United MileagePlus credentials. After selecting «RSVP Now,» members will be entered into the queue to receive a copy of the magazine, and notified if they are selected to receive it. September’s issue, the current issue in United’s seatback pockets, is the final print issue of Hemispheres. Frequent flyers have been snapping photos holding the magazine to commemorate the history and significance of the magazine. Others on social media described inflight magazines as “warm nostalgia from my childhood.”
While the official end of summer is still a few weeks away, if you’re already making your wish list for destinations to visit next summer, American Airlines’ newly announced network expansion might serve as fodder.
As the flagship carrier for Australia—one of the world’s hardest-to-reach, and well-traveled, countries—Qantas knows a thing or two about creating a comfortable long-haul experience. That’s a good thing for an airline with ambitions to fly the world’s longest route, Project Sunrise, which will connect Sydney to New York in 20 hours.
American Airlines has several new flight options for travelers eager to see the Colosseum in Rome, or take in the Prado’s art collection in Madrid.

Six decades after hosting the 1964 Tokyo Summer Olympics — when Japan rapidly rolled out new infrastructure like its Shinkansen bullet train and accommodations like Hotel New Otani Tokyo to welcome the anticipated influx of foreigners — the country remains one of the most beloved leisure destinations in the world. According to the Japan National Tourism Organization, 17.78 million foreign visitors arrived in the first half of 2024, breaking 2019's previous record of 16.63 million. And there are no signs of a slowdown: Japan aims to nearly double 2019's end-of-year record of 31.88 million tourists to a staggering 60 million annually by 2030.

Back in March, Southwest Airlines announced it would be launching it first red-eye, i.e. overnight, flights; however flight schedules are revealing more details about new flight options for passengers. The first overnight flights will depart on February 13, 2025, and arrive on February 14, 2025. These inaugural journeys depart from Las Vegas to both Baltimore and Orlando. The airline will also operate flights from Los Angeles to Baltimore and Nashville, as well as Phoenix to Baltimore.
Airfare sales are nothing new, but one low-cost carrier is taking it to an extreme. Flair Airlines, a low-cost Canadian airline, recently announced it would be discounting their base fares to just one (Canadian) dollar on select routes from Cancun, Orlando, Las Vegas, and Puerto Vallarta to Canada. While the fare may only be one dollar, the taxes and fees total approximately $15.14 per flight segment, including security and government fees. The base fares do not include any baggage, so travelers with a personal item, checked luggage, and carry-on luggage will need to add a bundle, which can be as much as $56. This is a similar pricing model that has been adopted in the United States by airlines such as Frontier, Spirit, and Allegiant which offer basic economy fares without any frills.
