The sun is setting before 7 p.m. in New York City, and winter is well on its way.
To help brighten the colder months, the Bank of America Winter Village is returning to Bryant Park on Friday, October 27. This will be the 22nd season of the annual pop-up which features a free-admission skating rink, a holiday market, and a festive bar and food hall.
Bryant Park’s 17,000 square foot ice rink, the center of the Winter Village, is the largest free-admission ice skating rink in New York City. Skate times and rentals through November 29 can now be reserved online. New skate reservation dates will be released throughout the season.
In 2023, skate rentals go for $18-$55 in sizes 6T-7T, kids 8-13, big kids 1-4, and adults 5-14. Helmet rental is free, socks are $6, and a skate aid (for balance) is free during select morning skate sessions before 11:30 a.m., and $22 or more at peak times. Those bringing their own skates for free ice time can take advantage of skate sharpening for $40 while you wait, or $20 for a 24 hour turnaround.
Bags are not allowed on the ice and limited lockers will be available for skaters this year. Shoe check is free, but bag check is $5 per item. Oversize items, like strollers or luggage, are $15 to check. If you want to avoid crowds, book early morning skate times, particularly on weekdays. Freestyle figure skaters can also book dedicated ice times at 6 a.m. and 7 a.m. on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays.
To warm up, The Lodge offers a rinkside open air, après skate (no skating is actually necessary) space to sip festive cocktails, nosh on warm bites and watch skaters pass pie. Indoor and outdoor seating is available, plus big screens to watch sports.
This season’s Holiday Shops by Urbanspace Markets will feature over 180 new and returning merchants in an open-air holiday market. New this year is a Small Business Spotlight presented by Bank of America, where four New York City minority-owned small businesses, with annual revenues of $1 million or less, will showcase and sell their products in a rent-free shop for approximately two weeks each. Vendors will be announced in the coming weeks.
The Rink and The Lodge will be open daily through March 3, 2024. The Holiday Shops by Urbanspace Markets will be open daily through January 2, 2024.

Each feels special in its own way, and exactly like the kind of place we want to lay our heads this season. Here, the most exciting fall hotel openings of 2023.
