There are so many hotel loyalty programs from which to choose. But one worth keeping an eye on, especially after Radisson Rewards Americas became part of it in July 2023, is the Choice Privileges program.
One aspect many travelers love about Choice Privileges is its excellent hotel promotions, which allow you to rack up points quickly. Here's a summary of the current promotions available to U.S.-based travelers.
One of the best Choice Privileges promotions is back. For up to eight stays between June 3 and Aug. 5, you'll earn at least 8,000 Choice points for every two hotel stays.
According to TPG's June 2024 valuations, Choice points are worth 0.6 cents each, meaning 8,000 Choice points are worth about $48. But through Oct. 5, you can redeem Choice points earned through this promotion for select gift cards at a rate of 8,000 points per $50 gift card.
Before checking out from your first qualifying stay, register for the promotion here. You must book a qualifying rate through a qualifying method (such as the Choice website, mobile app or phone booking center) to earn points. Most rates that typically earn Choice Privileges points are qualifying rates.

Your Extras provides extra perks on points-eligible stays that include a Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday night. The perks vary depending on where you reside. U.S.-based travelers can currently choose one of the following perks for each weeknight stay:
To get a perk on eligible weeknight stays, select the Your Extras benefit you want in your online Choice Privileges account. Once you've chosen it, this choice will apply to all future stays. However, you can change your preferences anytime using your online account.
For stays through Dec. 31, you'll earn double Your Extras at Cambria, Ascend, Radisson, Radisson Red and Radisson Blu hotels.

Hotel credit cards can unlock extra benefits and bonus earnings on stays with your favorite hotel brands. Choice Privileges loyalists have the following two cards and their welcome bonuses to consider:
Both cards offer more than 1 point per dollar spent on stays at participating Choice hotels and qualifying purchases at gas stations, grocery stores, home improvement stores and phone plan services.
I particularly like the Choice Privileges Select Mastercard, as it offers cardholders 30,000 bonus points every account anniversary. According to TPG's June 2024 valuation of Choice points, 30,000 bonus points are worth $180 — more than enough to justify the $95 annual fee.

Delta Air Lines is ushering in a new era with the opening of its first Delta One Lounge.
While I am, admittedly, biased as a lover of the city, the best time to visit Lisbon is really any time. The Portuguese capital is a hybrid of activity at all times, with warm temperatures outside even in the winter months, and a seemingly endless list of great hotels and restaurants to visit no matter what month you arrive. Plus, Portuguese warmth and hospitality is a year-round thing, so you can expect a sunny welcome whether it’s July or January.
On this episode of The Last Resort, host Christina Jelski talks to Brandon White, owner of Share the Magic Travel, to talk about his recent visit to the Sandals Saint Vincent and the Grenadines.
Tourists and visitors to Greece have been warned not to "take unnecessary risks" in the wake of the deaths of Europeans during the recent heatwave.
Delta Airlines recently announced the start of new services around the world, including Aruba, London, Orlando, Salt Lake City, and more. Floridians seeking a European getaway will now have an easier route. Travelers will be able to fly from Orlando, Florida, to London's Heathrow Airport directly on Delta. Delta will operate the flight four times weekly on an Airbus A330-900neo which features the Delta One Suites and Delta Premium Select cabins, according to a release. This is the latest expansion of Delta's Europe to Florida connection, as the airline previously announced a new route from both Tampa Airport and Orlando Airport to Amsterdam. Amsterdam serves as a major hub for KLM Airlines, which along with Delta, is a partner in the Sky Team Alliance. “Our new route between Orlando and London seamlessly connects two diverse destinations, offering customers a wealth of experiences on both sides of the Atlantic Floridians can explore London’s historic landmarks like Buckingham Palace and enjoy world-class dining, while Londoners can escape to the sunny beaches and world-famous attractions of Orlando,” Delta’s Senior Vice President for Europe, the Middle East, Africa, and India Matteo Curcio shared in a statement to T+L. The airline will fly its «largest-ever winter Latin schedule» with new flights to Aruba and St. Maarten. Spirit Airlines, known for discounted prices with limited in-flight amenities, recently released dozens of U.S. flight deals for as low as $21. Holidays can be a great time to travel if you have kids in school or you're running low on vacation time at work, and sometimes they're your only chance to get together with extended family. The downside? Prices tend to spike around Thanksgiving, Christmas and even long holiday weekends like Labor Day.
Earlier this month, Choice Privileges hiked the award cost of Preferred Hotels & Resorts stays to up to 87,000 points per night. At the time, I celebrated that award nights at Choice Hotels properties still cost between 6,000 and 35,000 points in most parts of the world (except the Asia-Pacific region, where award nights cost up to 75,000 points).
Southwest Airlines is marking 53 years of flying today and has dozens of flights on sale to celebrate.
As one of the most famous tourist destinations in the world, the question invariably arises: Do you tip in Paris? For many of us, tipping at restaurants and for various services is an ingrained habit, depending on our local customs. But as always, when traveling to different countries, we inevitably should learn and respect another set of rules—and that includes how much to tip. Fortunately, especially for travelers from the United States, tipping in Paris—and in Europe generally—is really quite simple: Tipping is not expected in French culture, at least not as much as it is in American culture.
New consumer preferences and habits have emerged in the first half of 2024 in an Asia Pacific tourism sector which is recovering from the pandemic years in an uneven manner.
