Flying to the land down under just got easier.
Delta Air Lines is launching brand-new service between Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) and Brisbane Airport (BNE) in Australia, the carrier announced Friday.
The new seasonal flight service will operate three times a week, from Dec. 4 to March 28, 2025. The new LA to Brisbane route will be operated on an Airbus A350-900, with a flight duration of approximately 14 hours and 45 minutes.
“This expansion marks our fourth destination in the South Pacific, establishing our most extensive schedule to date,” Delta’s Senior Vice President of Network Planning Joe Esposito said in a statement shared with Travel + Leisure. “We are confident that our customers will enjoy the enhanced experience consistently provided by Delta as we build our presence in Australia and the broader region.”
The flight will operate from LAX’s Terminal 3 which completed an extensive renovation in 2023 and features a new Delta SkyClub.
Esposito also shared that with the inclusion of the Brisbane route, Delta will fly 17 weekly flights to or from Australia. Within the South Pacific region, Delta operates service to Sydney and Auckland, New Zealand.
American Airlines recently announced their own new route to Brisbane Airport from Dallas-Fort Worth (DFW) starting in October 2024. Qantas Airlines currently operates a direct route from Los Angeles to Brisbane.
Over 21 million passengers flew through the Brisbane Airport in 2023, according to airport data. Brisbane was recognized as a top city to visit in Australia, due to the beaches, sunshine, and booming art scene.
«I find the region around Brisbane so inspiring — we have some of the best produce and seafood in the world,” Stanley Restaurant’s Head Chef Louis Tikaram additionally told T+L in 2023.
Brisbane has been on the move building new attractions and hotels for visitors. This summer, Bluey’s World will open to families, with exhibits based on the popular Disney+ series.
