An exclusive five-star resort with a view to the Iguazú Falls has been chosen as the best hotel in Argentina in 2024.
The Gran Meliá Iguazú, located within the Iguazú National Park and surrounded by the picturesque colours of the Misiones jungle, was honoured in the annual World Travel Awards, which highlights outstanding tourism, airline, hotel and hospitality offerings worldwide.
It’s the third time running that the Gran Meliá has been crowned as the nation’s best hotel, following victories in 2022 and 2023.
The five-star Gran Meliá is a luxury hotel and is the only of its kind to offer an exclusive view to the powerful Devil’s Gorge, which will soon reopen to the public for the winter holidays, and to a host of the national park’s other waterfalls. The site has 183 rooms and the cheapest, the ‘Deluxe Selva,’ starts at 400,000 pesos per night.
At the other end of the scale is the 344 square-metre ‘Royal Suite Redlevel,’ which has its own private terrace and heated pool, among other amenities – yours for a princely sum of four million pesos a night. The hotel also throws in a private butler, dinner cooked by the hotel’s chef to order and access to the ‘Redlevel Lounge,’ an exclusive reading space/office, which can also host work meetings.

Guests occupying other rooms also have plenty to explore: the Gran Meliá has three restaurants of its own, four bars, spa, sauna, gym and two events halls which can hold 550 people. Rounding it off is a stunning 50-metre pool with a view to the majestic Devil’s Gorge.
Other establishments nominated for the best Argentine hotel category in 2024 were: the Alvear Icon Hotel & Residences, Alvear Palace Hotel, Claridge Hotel, Four Seasons Hotel Buenos Aires, InterContinental Buenos Aires, Meliá Buenos Aires, Park Hyatt Mendoza, Park Tower, Luxury Collection Hotel Buenos Aires and Sofitel Buenos Aires Recoleta.

There’s no question that Bolivia’s food scene is having a moment, with three restaurants (Phayawi, Ancestral, and Gustu) in Latin America’s 100 Best Restaurants—up from zero in prior years. And that may be thanks, in part, to the fact that the top restaurants in La Paz showcase standout local ingredients, including the country's bountiful wine. In the first half of 2024, Bolivian wines have already earned 40 medals in international competitions such as the Bacchus Awards (Spain), Virtus (Portugal), and the Brussels International Competition (Belgium). Producers like Jardin Oculto, for instance, have bottles prominently featured in several Michelin-starred restaurants outside Bolivia, too, including Central in Lima—one of the top restaurants in the world, according to World's 50 Best.
