Air Serbia celebrates one year of direct flights from Belgrade to Chicago, successfully transporting over 40,000 passengers and enhancing Serbia-North America relations.
On 17 May 2024, Air Serbia marked one year since the launch of direct flights between Belgrade and Chicago. Over the past 365 days, the Serbian national airline has carried more than 40,000 passengers and almost 750 tons of cargo between the capital of Serbia and the”Windy City”. During the current summer season, flights on this route will be operated three times a week, on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Saturdays.
“The establishment of a direct service between Belgrade and Chicago was a very important step in the development and improvement of our company’s services. After a hiatus of more than three decades, we were able to delight passengers and enable them to easily reach their loved ones living in the wider Balkan region. The large number of passengers carried speaks volumes about the necessity of the direct air route between Belgrade and Chicago.
Furthermore, this route has contributed to better cultural and economic exchange between Serbia and North America. We are confident that demand for these flights will only increase in the years to come, and we will do everything in our power to adequately meet it,” said George Petković, VP Americas Air Serbia.
In addition to Chicago, Air Serbia also operates a scheduled direct service between Belgrade and New York. During the summer season, the Serbian national airline operates a daily service to this North American city. On this route, as well as on flights to Chicago, Airbus A330-200 aircraft from Air Serbia's long-haul fleet are deployed.
