Low-cost Icelandic airline Play is celebrating summer with flights to European hotspots starting at under $100 just in time for the Fourth of July.
The sale, which must be booked by midnight ET on July 8, is available on travel to Iceland, Dublin, Berlin, Paris, or London, Play shared with Travel + Leisure. Travelers can book the sale on Play’s website.
«European travel is hot this summer, and many prices have risen,” PLAY CEO Einar Örn Ólafsson told T+L. “PLAY always offers affordable fares, and this is our lowest deal yet to bring travel to Iceland and Europe within reach. These ‘cooled off’ prices will enable travelers to take advantage of shoulder season, with cooler temperatures and iconic destinations with fewer crowds.”
Travelers can fly to Iceland starting at just $79, or fly to Dublin, Berlin, Paris, or London starting at just $99 with the sale.
The sale is valid from Play’s gateway airports in the United States, including Baltimore/Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport (BWI), Boston Logan International Airport (BOS), New York Stewart International Airport (SWF), and Washington Dulles International Airport (IAD).
Travel is available to Iceland from Sept. 2 through Dec. 15, and available to Dublin, Berlin, Paris, and London from Sept. 5 to 23, from Sept. 25 to Nov. 9, from Nov. 11 to 30, and from Dec. 2 to 15.
Play first started operating flights in Europe in 2021 before launching its first flight from the U.S. the next year. The airline operates a „hub-and-spoke model“ in which all flights connect through Reykjavik before heading on to other destinations across Europe.
The airline flies to more than two dozen European cities.
Play is an ultra-low cost carrier and charges per flight leg for everything from checked bags to food and drinks on board. The airline operates an Airbus fleet, including the A320 and A321neo aircraft.

As a price comparison, during a non-sale period, a one-way JFK to LGW flight can cost as much as $1,138 in Main Cabin or $2,233 in Mint, based on pricing from JetBlue's website. While the Mint cabin provides tons of amenities, passengers in the Main Cabin are treated with extra legroom, and a 10" TV that has a variety of power ports including USB-A, USB-C, and AC (standard outlet). Passengers in the Main Cabin also get a complimentary blanket, and a curated menu from New York's Dig restaurant chain.
