Just last month, the Oneworld alliance launched the first-ever Oneworld-branded lounge in South Korea's Incheon International Airport (ICN). This was only the beginning.
On Wednesday, Oneworld opened the doors of its second lounge, and the first in Europe, for a special sneak peek. Here is everything you need to know about the new Oneworld lounge in Amsterdam.

The lounge is in what was once the British Airways lounge; it closed in 2022 and has since been remodeled for Oneworld. You'll find the entrance in the non-Schengen Area by the D gates in Amsterdam's sprawling Amsterdam Airport Schiphol (AMS).
I've always found it a little tricky to locate lounges at Schiphol. You'll want to head to the main atrium area at the D gates to find the entrance.
Following the signs to Lounge 41, head up the stairs toward Starbucks, then take the elevator one floor up. The entrance is right ahead of you upon exiting the elevator.
The new lounge is open daily between 5:30 a.m. and 10 p.m.
Eight of the 13 Oneworld airlines fly to and from Schiphol: American Airlines, British Airways, Cathay Pacific, Finnair, Iberia, Qatar Airways, Royal Air Maroc and Royal Jordanian Airlines.
To access this lounge, you'll need to be flying in first or business class on one of these airlines. Or, if you hold Oneworld Emerald or Sapphire elite status, you can fly in any cabin. You hold the right Oneworld status if you are an American Airlines AAdvantage Platinum status holder or above. For British Airways Executive Club members, that's Silver and above.
There are no other ways to gain access, such as using certain credit card lounge memberships. There are no one-time entry passes for sale, either.

Fortunately, there are other lounges at the airport available to Priority Pass members and others.
The lounge is predominantly arranged in one large, open space spanning more than 5,000 square feet. It's subtly semidivided into sections with a seating capacity of 118.
After passing by the reception desk, you enter the main area of the lounge through a futuristic walkway with multicolored lights and LED screens. You'll find a chic circular bar in front of you, surrounded by seating areas.
The lounge design nods to Amsterdam with interesting custom lighting pieces inspired by the city's arched canal bridges — which are also reflected in the shape of that futuristic entry — Oneworld representatives said.
There is a wide variety of seating options throughout the lounge, including bar stools, couches, comfortable individual armchairs and cafe-style dining tables.
Various booth-style seating areas are available,

Athens has clinched a prestigious title in the tourism realm, emerging as Europe’s Leading City-break Destination at the World Travel Awards 2024. The announcement came during a glittering ceremony held in Berlin on Wednesday, coinciding with ITB Berlin, a major tourism exhibition. Athens, represented by its special pavilion at the EOT Pavilion, took centre stage at the event.
Solo travel is becoming ever more popular in 2024 and the right destination can make a vacation alone become the experience of a lifetime. Europe is the ideal place to try out a journey on your own thanks to safe and reliable rail networks, walkable town centers and plenty of group accommodation where you can make friends.
Millions of tourists may soon be stuck in long lines trying to get into Europe. The reason: Cruise lines don’t have the infrastructure and resources to implement the new European Union’s cross-border rules, said executives at a panel on Europe’s upcoming border control rules at ITB Berlin, a travel trade show.
The new program includes over 80 displays, which feature a carefully curated combination of digital and static advertisements. Departure Media has also designed elements beyond advertising, including the ‘Welcome to Kansas City’ signage located on the bulkhead soffit seen by passengers on their descent to the lower level.
The airline has also relaunched its route from Newcastle to Amsterdam for next summer.
In the spring of 2020, at the height of the pandemic, the always bustling Dam Square in Amsterdam was deserted, silent and surrounded by concrete counterterrorism blocks. The Dutch street artist Frank de Ruwe, who goes by the name of Frankey, decided these daunting studded blocks resembled something more innocent — giant Lego blocks — and that the city needed something to lighten the gloom.
With cobblestone lanes wrapped around arched bridges and canals, Amsterdam makes for a charming vacation at any time of year.
This upcoming spring instead of just seeing historical sites in European cities, why not also stay in some cultural landmarks while you’re there. Major cities like Berlin, Zurich and Amsterdam have hotels in centuries-old buildings allowing you to immerse yourself in rich architectural details and notable surroundings. Here are four hotels to enjoy contemporary comforts and sleep in a piece of history:
When they debut in 2025, Riviera River Cruises’ two newest ships will sail the Danube and Douro rivers in Europe.
Since moving from Seattle to Luxembourg for school, I've noticed a few things the European country does better than the US.
