In a groundbreaking move, the prestigious MICHELIN Guide unveils its inaugural ranking of MICHELIN Keys for France today, marking its first foray into hotels. With 189 distinguished establishments across France among the 600 hotels in the new guide, Michelin celebrates the talent and dedication of these hospitality professionals, setting a new standard for excellence in the hotel industry. As MICHELIN's inspectors continue to scour the planet for the best in class, hotel rankings for other destinations are to follow later this month.
Echoing its iconic gastronomic stars, the MICHELIN Guide introduces a new accolade for hotels: the MICHELIN Keys, ranging from 1 Key to 3 Keys. The keys are bestowed upon establishments in the Guide's hotel selection offering the most remarkable stay experiences. Awarded by the MICHELIN Guide's inspectors based on anonymous stays or visits, and independent of any existing tourism labels, distinctions, or quotas, the MICHELIN Keys establish themselves as a new international benchmark for travelers, guiding them towards accommodations distinguished by their unique hotel concept, strong personality, and exceptionally high level of hospitality and service.
Following France, the MICHELIN Keys will be announced in the United States (Atlanta, California, Chicago, Colorado, Florida, New York, Washington DC) on April 24, in Spain on April 29, in Italy on May 7, and in Tokyo on July 4, 2024. Other destinations will follow throughout the year.
Gwendal Poullennec, International Director of the MICHELIN Guide comments, "Remaining true to our hands-on approach, the inspectors of the MICHELIN Guide have curated this unprecedented ranking to share with travelers their best hotel experiences in France. Each establishment distinguished with One, Two, or Three MICHELIN Keys is a gem crafted by the talented professionals who inhabit them. On the Michelin Guide's digital platform, travelers have the opportunity to filter and book the awarded hotels."
In the guide, 24 establishments have been awarded Three MICHELIN Keys, 38 have received Two MICHELIN Keys, and 127 have earned One MICHELIN Key.
In these establishments, deemed by the MICHELIN inspectors as among the most remarkable in the world and as destinations in their own right, the level of service and comfort is pushed to the extreme.

I couldn’t help but agree.
