Google Flights is one of the most valuable platforms for comparing flight prices to save money. The flight price aggregator is expanding its research capabilities to pinpoint the best time to find cheap tickets to popular destinations. Now, several tools are at your disposal to get the best airline itinerary prices.
Upgraded Flight Insights
This week, Google Flights is launching more insights to see when prices are typically the lowest between your departure airports. When reliable trends are available, the tool researches flight price history for your chosen travel dates and destination.
Additionally, you can continue to use the indicator to see if current prices are low, typical or high compared to past averages.
You can see a recommendation for the date range that’s usually the cheapest to buy tickets and your potential cost savings. Sometimes, the service may suggest waiting until the last minute to secure a seat.
Enable Price Tracking
It’s been possible to track prices for a specific itinerary when you’re not ready to buy today as you don’t have the funds or you’re waiting for a better deal.
Activating the tracking tool makes it easier to find lower prices, as you will receive alerts when fare prices go lower and when the price prediction tools think it’s the best time to book.
After logging into your Google account, you can enable this feature and receive emails when deals become available, three to six months before departure. It’s also possible to turn on “Any dates” price tracking when your travel schedule is flexible.
Price Guarantees
Select flight results are eligible for a price guarantee when you receive a refund for the fare difference if tickets become cheaper after you book. Google Flights monitors prices until departure, making getting a last-minute partial rebate possible.
This pilot program became available in April 2023 for select Book on Google itineraries departing from the United States. Protected flights display a price guarantee badge during your research. Receive compensation by Google Pay if prices go down.
