For a limited time, Chase is running a special offer for signing up for one of its most popular cash-back credit cards.
Since mid-October, the Chase Freedom Unlimited has been offering new cardholders double cash back earned in the first year. Chase will automatically match all the cash back you've earned in the first 12 months with no limit, essentially doubling the card's earning rates.
However, some TPG readers — like the one in the email below — have contacted us to enquire why they're not seeing the double cash back post to their accounts.
I signed up for the Chase Freedom Unlimited card through the TPG affiliate link a couple months ago, and I have not seen double points on my posted charges," one reader wrote to TPG. "Seems like others on Reddit are having a similar issue. Are they seeing the double points post as they spend, or does it hit at the one-year mark?"
While regular cash back should post shortly after your monthly billing cycle closes, the double cash back earned through this special offer will be awarded as a lump sum at the end of your first year.
Here are the terms and conditions of the special offer:
With this offer you will receive a one-time bonus equal to all Cash Back rewards earned during your first 12 monthly billing cycles from account opening with your Chase Freedom Unlimited card. ... Please allow 6 to 8 weeks from the end of your 12th monthly billing cycle for bonus Cash Back rewards to post to your account.
Let's look at a real-world scenario. I applied for and was approved for this card on Dec. 5, so I will earn double cash back on all my purchases until early December 2024. During the next 12 months, I will receive the regular cash-back rate at the end of each monthly billing cycle.
However, I will need to wait until sometime between the first half of December 2024 and potentially as late as February 2025 to receive the one-time lump sum of double cash back.
We don't expect this offer to stick around for much longer — and it's arguably one of the best offers we've seen on this card. So, if you've been thinking of applying, now is the right time.
TPG associate credit cards writer Ryan Wilcox wrote about why now is the right time for him to pick up the card. Director of content Nick Ewen is planning to apply for the card this week, and SEO analyst Emma Keller explains why she has this card in her wallet as a credit card beginner.

Copenhagen is home to some of the world’s most sought after dinner reservations. And while a few have earned three-Michelin stars as well as the title of ‘World’s Best Restaurant’ the most satisfying meal I had in all of 2023 was at Restaurant Jordnær , located a short commuter train ride away from the main city in Gentofte. Chef Eric Vildgaard and his wife and partner Tina Kragh Vildgaard have crafted a tasting menu and dining experience that maintain excitement and satisfaction throughout its many courses — and earned the restaurant two Michelin stars as well as 2023 “Restaurant of the Year” in Denmark by the Danish Dining Guide. I spoke with Chef Vildgaard, along with Tina Kragh Vildgaard, about their shared passion for Jordnær and their vision to provide every guest with a memorable evening.

“See Naples and die!” The famous saying, popularised by 18th-century German writer Goethe, is an affectionate nod to the beauty of the southern Italian port city, enveloped by its cerulean bay and crowned by Mount Vesuvius.

Vibrant orange and black wings fill the skies above coastal California each winter as thousands of western monarchs take flight. But these iconic butterflies are disappearing. A new trail brings attention to their decline and invites travelers to help protect them.
I was loading my luggage into the car when I got a text that my Thanksgiving weekend flight from Denver International Airport to Palm Springs was delayed. Then, I was at the airport when I got another text message alerting me of further delays. So, with a few hours to kill, I settled into the Amex Lounge, filled up a plate with food, and started scrolling social media.
Call it “Viking swimming,” “freezing plunges,” "polar plunge," “ice swimming” or “bear plunges,” among other names. It can be done in groups or by yourself, naked, in swimsuits or in costume and generally wearing a warm hat since, after all, it is a winter activity and very popular at this time of the year. Even a Santa hat seems appropriate.
There’s a joke in certain circles, that whenever something goes wrong in Paris, we blame Emily. I think you know of whom I speak.
Perched above the Ionian Sea on a rocky promontory, the iconic San Domenico Palace welcomes guests to a world of unparalleled luxury that’s not only reminiscent of the TV show “White Lotus” — it actually served as the filming location for Season 2. This beautiful hotel in the heart of Taormina, Sicily, is a 14th-century convent reimagined, seamlessly blending historic charm with modern opulence. A testament to Sicilian elegance, the hotel’s lush gardens and stunning sea-view deluxe rooms give guests intimate spaces to unwind in a place that feels more like a sanctuary than a hotel.
While traveling to a new destination means exploring new foods and cities, there’s nothing quite like stepping into a fresh hotel room. Whether you’re staying in a budget hotel or splurged on luxury accommodations, it turns out there’s a bit more ick in the room than you probably expected. TikToker and hotelier @queenevangeline25 recently went viral for the list of things she’d never do at a hotel, and it turns out the most significant issues have to do with cleanliness. While you might think to wipe down common surfaces like the kettle in the room, the dirtiest part of a hotel room might be where you rest your head.
