If all goes according to plan, Newark Liberty International Airport (EWR) may soon go from worst to first in nationwide rankings.

Officials at one of the country’s busiest airports are prepping travelers for traffic at the hub as major construction threatens to derail summer travel for millions of fliers.

The first time I traveled through Newark Liberty International Airport’s Terminal A last year, I felt like I had stepped into the future. In the place of static wayfinding signs, digital screens guided me through the concourse, where outdated gate areas were replaced with sleek, light-filled spaces. Passengers lounged on wooden plank recliners instead of squatting on the floor, with devices plugged in to countless outlets (that actually worked). Heck, at one point, I even spotted a robot helping bus dishes inside the United Club lounge.

Flavortown brings further flair to Terminal’s unique food and drink offerings spanning local and global flavors.

The Port Authority of New York and New Jersey voted to replace the aging monorail used to shuttle passengers from terminal to terminal at Newark Airport.
