SFO Introduces ‘San Fran-disco’: A Silent Disco Experience for Travelers

There’s this little yellow sun smiling throughout Sun Valley. It graces the doorknobs and room number plaques at the luxurious Sun Valley Lodge. It decorates the exterior of the free community shuttles toting eager skiers around the bases of Bald and Dollar Mountains and through the town of Ketchum. This smiling sun, with its dimpled cheeks and plump lips, is stamped on the back of the Sun Valley ski guides’ red Helly Hansen uniforms as they lead groups down runs like College or Arnold - the latter trail named for actor, politician and Sun Valley resident, Arnold Schwartzenegger.

As my train heads north-west from Madrid towards the green hills of Asturias, I eagerly await views of the lush landscape – but instead, I’m plunged into darkness. A new series of tunnels is leading me to the northern region’s capital, Oviedo, and among them is the seventh-longest in Europe: at 15 miles, it’s a complex work of engineering that cuts through the Cantabrian Mountains.

San Francisco has long been a food city, once having had the highest restaurant density in the country. With notoriously lousy traffic and next-to-impossible parking, driving is most definitely not the best way to get around San Francisco. Fortunately, there are plenty of other excellent ways to traverse the city.
