Southwest Airlines has reached 1 million followers on Instagram and is celebrating by giving away 1 million Rapid Rewards points to celebrate.
The sweepstakes, which is open through 11:59 p.m. CT on July 15, will reward one lucky winner with 1 million Rapid Rewards points they can use to redeem on travel anywhere the airline flies. (One million points is equivalent to $12,048 in travel, the airline told Travel + Leisure.)
In addition to the grand prize, Southwest will select five additional winners who will each receive a $500 Southwest gift card.
To enter the sweepstakes, travelers must follow Southwest on Instagram and like the airline’s post, comment using the hashtags “#OneMillionSWA” and “#Sweepstakes,” and tag a friend. The winner will then be randomly selected on July 16 and will receive a direct message from Southwest.
Travelers must also be at least 18 years old and a legal resident of 49 U.S. states or Washington D.C. to enter. The sweepstakes excludes residents of Alaska.
This is a summer of giveaways for Southwest. The airline is also running another contest offering free trips to one lucky winner each week. That giveaway, dubbed the Summer of Go sweepstakes, comes complete with flights, hotel, and cash to use on activities. The airline will give away one trip every week for 10 weeks.
Each of these promotions come on the heels of Southwest’s decision to increase the cost of its early check-in and upgraded boarding services.
It also comes after the carrier made its flights available to view on Google Flights, but travelers must still book on Southwest’s website.
