I don’t know about you, but I absolutely love Waikiki. Even though it’s a resort area in the middle of a bustling city, I find it luscious and exciting, with a wealth of activities nearby – not to mention gorgeous beach areas with gentle waves – and excellent people-watching! In fact, I always get a kick out of seeing barefoot surfers in their bathing suits, walking and crossing the black-topped streets, with their surfboards perched on their heads, in the middle of a highly-trafficked city filled with cars and locals in business attire. It’s a visual oxymoron – and I always get a chuckle out of it.
One of the places I like to stay is the Sheraton Waikiki, and I recommend it highly.
In fact, the Sheraton Waikiki is just now celebrating the completion of a multi-year, $200 million room renovation at its oceanfront resort along famed Waikiki Beach. With breathtaking views of Diamond Head and Waikiki, Sheraton Waikiki sets the scene by the sea and is an ideal home base for travelers visiting Oahu.
The property has just undergone a major renovation of all 1,636 rooms and suites. The transformation project brought significant aesthetic and functional upgrades to guest rooms, suites, hallways and elevator landings on guest floors, function spaces, and retail experiences. Reconfiguring guest room amenities and providing a tailored, curated closet and refreshed tower provided much-needed organization and order, with bidets also added in each room. Nearly 80 percent of guest rooms and suites at the property offer immaculate ocean and Diamond Head views, and extending the functional space into the lanai (balcony) through pūne'e (daybeds) and work tables further enhanced guests' access and connection to the breathtaking vistas.
Sheraton Waikiki features more than 130 suites in its Suite Collection – everything from oversized rooms with three queen-sized beds at more than 600 square feet of space – all the way up to suites that can accommodate up to six people. The reconfigured Ohana Suite is the ultimate suite for families, featuring two bedrooms, two baths, two lanais (balconies), a comfortable living room, a dining table, and a pull-out sofa. The Ohana Suite accommodates six people and costs $1,626 per night.
And with sleep tourism at an alltime high, you’ll snooze in style as well. The Sheraton Sleep Experience introduces a whole new level of comfort. Exclusively made for Sheraton, the Signature Bed features custom-designed mattress and complete hotel bedding ensemble: Signature Sheraton sheets and pillowcases; a selection of plush feather-and-down and hypoallergenic pillows; a deluxe duvet and duvet cover; and stylish diamond down blanket.
"We're thrilled with the results of the renovations and are beyond

The Statue of Liberty, an iconic symbol of freedom and democracy, stands proudly in New York Harbor, welcoming visitors from around the world to the United States. This colossal neoclassical sculpture was a gift from the people of France to the United States in 1886, commemorating the centennial of American independence and the enduring alliance between the two nations. These Airbnbs near the Statue of Liberty provide views and easy access.
After decades of conflict, the Palestinian militant group Hamas launched a surprise attack against Israel on Saturday.
As a flock of noisy jet skiers circle the Statue of Liberty on a warm October evening, Matthew Rhys looks out at the horizon. “There’s a Welsh word, hiraeth, which is loosely translated to ‘a longing for home,’" he says. “But it's something slightly more than that. It's a longing for something that can never be again.”
The most common question you’ll hear when traveling with kids in the USA? “When can we have a snack?”
Austrian rail operator OeBB on Saturday unveiled its new generation of sleeper trains - a response to demands from travellers for less pollutant alternatives to planes and petrol or diesel cars.
The United States is supersized, from its sprawling big cities to its epic natural splendors. And its citizens? When it comes to friendliness and national pride, we can be a little “extra” too.
Renowned for its jaw-dropping architecture, world-class museums and mouth-watering street food (did some say deep-dish pizza?) it's no wonder Chicago was voted the second-best city in the world by media and hospitality giant TimeOut.

You're not imagining it, cruisers: Fares for cruises have been jumping this year — to record levels. And it looks like cruise pricing is only going higher, barring some sort of economic downturn that causes a significant dent in demand.
