Tis the season for accolades. And best restaurant lists are dropping faster than your order at so many quick service restaurants.
In addition to the tried and true favorites — The Michelin Guide, La Liste, World’s 50 Best — new curated lists by and for the people are also helping diners find top spots.
This year, Yelp launched a new collection of best new restaurants, to celebrate rising stars in the culinary world (spoiler: Martha Stewart made the list, so established stars made it too), and a 15% growth in new business openings each month this year as compared to 2022.
To curate the best new restaurants list, Yelp identified full-service businesses in the restaurant category, which opened after January 1, 2022, then ranked those spots using a number of factors including the total volume and ratings of reviews between January 1, 2022 and August 7, 2023. Yelp's Trend Expert Tara Lewis also weighed in to narrow down top spots.

February may be the shortest month in the year, but you can pack some serious travel into it. In 2024 — a leap year — there's even an extra day for more adventure. The hardest part will be deciding where to go.

No first trip to Edinburgh would be complete without a visit to Edinburgh Castle. The world-famous icon of Scotland is part of the Old and New Towns of Edinburgh’s World Heritage Site and is the most popular paid tourist attraction in the country. Dominating the skyline of the city, the fortress looms over the streets below from its position on the Castle Rock. Due to its strategic location, it has been a royal residence, a military stronghold, and a focus of countless sieges and battles. It also offers stunning panoramic views over the city of Edinburgh. Due to the size and walkability of the city center, the best way to explore Scotland’s capital is on foot. That means, if you are looking for a central Airbnb, you’ll be no more than a 30-minute walk from the Royal Mile — the main street leading to the castle gates. The Airbnb near Edinburgh Castle rentals we’ve selected here are steeped in history, have views of the iconic site, Superhost status, and five-star reviews from past guests.
Cairo is a great place to visit for its rich history, vibrant culture, and delicious food. It is home to some of the most iconic landmarks in the world, including the Pyramids of Giza and the Sphinx. Visitors can also explore the ancient city of Memphis, the Coptic Cairo, and the Islamic Cairo. Cairo is also a great place to experience Egyptian cuisine, which is known for its bold flavors and fresh ingredients.
The past year has seen a flurry of cabins crop up near the shores of Broken Bow Lake in southeast Oklahoma. Cloaked in pine and pawpaw trees, this rural region likely has a higher permanent population of black bears and bald eagles than people. Fishing, hiking, and boating have maintained steady tourism but the recent boom in new chalets has put the teensy hamlet of Hochatown on the map, literally. Airbnb is credited with creating this vacation bubble in the aftermath of the pandemic as travelers in OK and TX seek countryside getaways closer to home.

Skipping the buzz—and the calories – has gotten much more enjoyable. Even in the past six months, the non-alcoholic wine space has improved dramatically, with new offerings showing surprising complexity. My list this year includes a couple of debuts and some old favorites. I’ve noted how these beverages were made – some start with fermented grapes – actual wine—then use complex chemistry to remove the alcohol. These might hew closer to a traditional wine to many palates. Then there are beverages that use a mixture of teas, juices, spices or other elements to give the experience of wine – mouthfeel, complex nose and palate. These alternatives are generally not meant to emulate a particular varietal, but rather give the drinker a pleasing adult beverage to enjoy in situations where you’d normally drink wine. Here are this year’s top picks.
When people think about beers in New York City, most people think of the buzzy craft breweries of Brooklyn and yes, they are excellent but one of the best places to drink in NYC is in lower Manhattan, where excellent beer bars are mere blocks from each other and you can enjoy yourself with a semi-relaxed NYC style of quiet that the East and West Village, The Bowery and Alphabet City neighborhoods afford. Here are some of my favorite places in drink in Lower Manhattan.
