Air France is saying bonjour to Phoenix by making the Arizona city its newest gateway city in the United States.
The airline is launching flights between Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport and Paris on May 23, Air France shared with Travel + Leisure. The new flight will mark the first direct service between Phoenix and France, according to the airline.
The new route will be operated on a Boeing 787-900 Dreamliner aircraft three days each week on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays during the summer. The flights will leave Paris at 10:10 a.m. and arrive in Phoenix at 12:10 p.m. before taking off once again at 2:10 p.m. for a 9:15 a.m. arrival in Paris the next day.
“Becoming the 22nd North American gateway for Air France next summer season, this new service symbolizes our commitment to enhancing the transatlantic travel connection,” Boaz Hulsman, the vice president of commercial, North America at Air France-KLM, said in a statement provided to T+L. “We look forward to soon providing passengers from Phoenix with an experience embodying the best of French elegance.”
Each new flight will feature 30 business class seats, 21 premium economy class seats, and 228 economy class seats, according to Air France.

The new Phoenix flights come on the heels of Air France’s decision to increase service to Paris from Newark Liberty International Airport in December, marking the return of the carrier to Newark for the first time since 2012. And last year, Air France also restored several flights between the U.S. and Paris, including from Denver, Dallas, and between JFK and Paris Orly International Airport.
The new flights also come just in time for the 2024 Summer Olympics, which will be held in Paris starting on July 26. To score tickets for the events, spectators can search online. An official resale platform is expected to launch in the spring.
