The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) it’s making it easier to jet off on an international getaway by adding eight new airlines to its TSA PreCheck program.
Travelers who are enrolled in the program will now be able to use the expedited security lane when flying with all-business carrier La Compagnie, Spanish airline Iberia, Air Tahiti Nui, new carrier BermudAir, Air Premia, Air Transat, Bahamasair, and New Pacific Airlines, according to the TSA. Travelers flying with these airlines can use the PreCheck lane when leaving the United States or when connecting to a domestic flight upon returning to the country from an international flight.
With the addition of these carriers, nearly 100 domestic and international airlines are now part of the Trusted Traveler program.
Approved travelers who are enrolled in the TSA PreCheck program are allowed to leave their shoes, belts, and light jackets on and leave their laptops and liquids in their bags when going through airport security. To apply, travelers must fill out an application online and then schedule an in-person interview.
Travelers who apply and enroll instead in the Global Entry program also receive TSA PreCheck as part of the package.
Last year, the TSA teamed up with security firm Telos Corporation to make applying for the program easier, providing travelers with even more enrollment centers.
The agency also allows teenagers 13 to 17 years old traveling on the same reservation as an enrolled parent or guardian to accompany them into the expedited security line. Previously, only children 12 and younger were allowed to do so.
The TSA is constantly enrolling new airlines in its program beyond the latest additions, including when it added Fiji Airways, Lynx Air, Norse Atlantic Airways, and Starlux Airlines in December, and when the agency added French Bee, Zipair, Cayman Airways, and Titan Airways just a couple months before that.
