If you’re looking for a safari experience that transcends the ordinary, head to Botswana’s inimitable Linyanti Bush Camp, a part of the acclaimed African Bush Camp collection. At this exceptional lodge, guests are not merely passive observers on safari but are invited to be active participants in an unfolding story of the wildlife, people and traditions that define Botswana and make it such a standout safari destination.
Whether you’re tracking elephants on foot with a local guide or learning about African Bush Camp’s efforts to empower local communities, each moment at Linyanti is a chapter in an immersive and transformative safari journey. Here’s a look at the elements that make Linyanti Bush Camp a bucket-list safari experience.
Location
Set on the western border of iconic Chobe National Park, the camp is perched on the banks of the Linyanti wetlands (one of the few sources of water during the drier months, which makes it a beacon for diverse wildlife). This location ensures guests have plenty of encounters with nature away from the crowds even before they head out on a safari drive. Elephants, impalas and hippos are commonly spotted taking advantage of the camp’s wetlands.
Of course, the problem with finding the perfect safari destination is that it’s hard to keep such a treasure a secret for long. When word gets out about a great camp, guests inevitably soon find that they’re as likely to run into tourist-filled safari vehicles as they are amazing wildlife. But this is not an issue at Linyanti. The camp somehow manages to be on the border of one of Africa’s most iconic parks and provide a surplus of singular animal sightings, while still maintaining a sense of seclusion and intimacy. At Linyanti, it’s not uncommon to spend an entire four- or five-hour game drive without seeing another group of safari goers — a highly prized, yet all too rare, safari experience.
Lodge
In keeping with Linyanti’s focus on fostering an intimate safari experience, there are only six Serengeti tents at the camp. These spacious and luxurious accommodations offer a lovely blend of rustic ambience and contemporary luxury. Each tent boasts private en-suite facilities and a shaded deck overlooking the wetlands. They are also carefully situated so that guests can enjoy privacy and immerse themselves in the sounds and scents of the surrounding landscape. The tents blend so well into the bush that herds of elephants and impalas are not an uncommon site on the grounds. Additionally, bird lovers will be happy to learn that the proximity of the wetlands provides excellent opportunities to watch from your veranda as an incredible array of feathered wonders hover over the waters feasting on insects.

It’s not clear when London museums first reinvented themselves with the opening of the queue-forming ‘blockbuster’ exhibitions that we are so familiar with these days. Was it back in 2013, when the V&A opened the David Bowie is exhibition? (It was so popular that the exhibit eventually visited five international cities and has now been seen by over two million visitors worldwide, making it on track to become the V&A’s most visited exhibition in its history.) Or could the seed for this phenomenon have been sewn way back in 1972, when the British Museum announced its Treasures of Tutankhamun exhibition, which saw lines snaking around the block – the first for a London museum at the time?

While each Super Bowl is unique, some things never change. And in this case, it means that the Kansas City Chiefs are again Super Bowl champions and quarterback Patrick Mahomes is again going to Disneyland.

In the winter of 1969, Santa Barbara’s coastal ecosystem was blitzed by three million gallons of crude oil. Responding to the catastrophic spill, and the ongoing assault of ecosystems throughout the United States, Senator Gaylord Nelson called upon American youth to rally for the environment as strenuously as they’d protested the Vietnam War.

Airline safety—something that many travelers take for granted in the US—has been top of mind this year. Passengers everywhere might be feeling some nerves after a panel of a Boeing 737 Max 9 blew out during an Alaska Airlines flight in early January, a shocking incident that's been followed by accusations of quality control issues on Boeing’s production lines, and possibly those of its contractors.
Open a paper or look at a news website and chances are there will be another story about the unstoppable rise of AI (artificial intelligence) and the Frankenstein-style dilemmas associated with its current state of development. Unsurprisingly, AI has also infiltrated the wellness sphere, with apps and chatbot platforms monitoring and analysing our physical and mental health. However, as the Western world hurtles forward on a fast track to the future, increasingly hooked on technology, there’s an evolving counter-culture — a turning back to age-old, intuition-led wellbeing philosophies from the East, from sound healing to forest bathing, chakra cleansing to crystal therapy. This craving for a more spiritual way of living and healing hints at a realisation that the race for material success doesn’t necessarily bring happiness and fulfilment. Thankfully Eastern wisdom and wellbeing practises are now within easy reach, as a corner of India has recently sprung up in Italy.
