Delta Air Lines and American Express are making it easier to plan a summer getaway with new card offers, offering up to 110,000 bonus miles when card holders sign up.
The limited-time offer is available to new Delta SkyMiles American Express card members who sign up through July 17, the company shared with Travel + Leisure. New card offers with bonus mileage are valid for the Delta SkyMiles Gold, Platinum, Reserve, and business cards.
“Whether it’s a long weekend trip, or a short excursion, eligible new Delta SkyMiles American Express Card Members can earn on all types of summer getaways by taking advantage of the limited-time offers,” the company wrote in a statement shared with T+L.
Travelers who sign up for a new Delta SkyMiles American Express card can earn bonus miles when they spend a certain amount within the first six months of getting the card. The total required spend varies by card.
This year, Delta added more perks to its American Express-branded cards, but charged more for them. The annual fee for the Delta Reserve card, for example, has increased to $650 from $550. For that fee, which went into effect on May 1, customers receive a $240 Resy credit, $120 rideshare credit, and $200 Delta Stays credit.
The airline has also overhauled its loyalty program, choosing to only count Medallion Qualification Dollars (MQDs) toward elite status. Travelers earn MQDs when they purchase a Delta or Delta-partner flight, book a hotel, a car rental, or a Delta Vacations trip directly through the airline's website. Travelers can also earn MQDs with a Delta credit card, but earn fewer per dollar spent.
