This Gorgeous Hotel In Puebla Is Also One Of The City’s Best Places To Eat And Drink

There are places I feel compelled to visit once, and there are places that beckon multiple visits. As Mexico’s fourth largest city and a cradle of signficant cultural and culinary importance, Puebla falls squarely into the latter category. It took one trip in 2017 for me to fall hard for the historic center’s candy-colored buildings, Baroque-style churches, artisan crafts like Talavera pottery, and last but not least, the local food and drink.

How We Pulled It Off: A Stylish Wedding in Chile’s Wine Country

Chloe Leung and Garrett Cuff knew they wanted their destination wedding to be unforgettable. “We’re a pretty adventurous couple,” says Garrett, an engineer at an oil company. “We do a big trip each year [for] three or four weeks and go to a few countries at once, and wanted to share that experience with our family and friends.” They never even considered getting married near their home in Calgary, Canada, nor did they want a typical all-inclusive Caribbean or Mexican resort. Seeking a real thrill, they opted instead for a country—and in Garrett’s case, a continent—they’d never seen before their nuptials.

A Slow-Paced Guide to Valle de Guadalupe, Mexico's Wine Country

Set in the northern Baja peninsula, Valle de Guadalupe is tucked in from the Pacific Ocean and the Sea of Cortéz, and hemmed by mountains on three sides. The valley cups the cool, ocean air drifting inland to form a Mediterranean microclimate—dry hot days, a firm afternoon breeze, cool nights—that makes Valle de Guadalupe a very good place to make wine. Indeed, this is Mexico’s wine country, home to over 150 wineries, and that same temperate microclimate that makes Valle de Guadalupe a very good place to make wine means it’s also a great place to visit year-round.
