What Are the Seven Wonders of the World?

The Seven Wonders of the World: it’s a group as iconic as The Beatles, as ancient as history itself, and as lore-heavy as a Hinge date from Bushwick who really found themselves in Bali. And while seven may seem like a compact number—as with any great classic—there’s been a slew of reboots and sequels since the original list from the ancient world dropped nearly 2,000 years ago. We compiled our own list earlier this year, and have coined some sites ‘Eighth Wonders’ (including in this fun piece about New Zealand’s pink and white terraces from Jeopardy! host Ken Jennings). Even the so-called original list is likely a remix too, as the oft-cited first version from ancient Greek historian Herodotus exists only in reference, having been long lost since its days on the Museum of Alexandria’s shelves.

I took a nostalgia flight in American Airlines’ soon-to-be-retired international Flagship First: Here’s where you can still find it

I've had a soft spot for American Airlines Flagship First for more than a decade. It's the last true international first-class product being flown by any American carrier. But Flagship First has been around since the early 2010s, and American plans to formally retire the product in the coming years.

An ‘Outer Banks’ Tour of the Carolinas

If you binged the first five episodes of Outer Banks season four last night, you may be asking yourself—or Google, which brought you here—where was Outer Banks filmed? If you thought the answer was the actual Outer Banks in North Carolina, you're wrong.

I was struggling to figure out what I wanted in life. Going on my first cruise helped.

Like many people, I hit a rut in my late 30s. My career felt stalled, and my life mostly consisted of work and Netflix. I was bored, flabby, and felt like I needed something big to snap me out of my funk.

What is a cruise director? Meet the person in charge of onboard fun

The cruise director is one of the busiest staff members you'll encounter on board a cruise ship. They work long hours throughout the cruise to keep guests entertained and informed, providing a steady stream of details about shipboard activities and even passenger safety. They're your emcee, introducing each act during evening shows, and your social host, keeping the fun going at deck parties. You'll hear them making overhead announcements and see them on your cabin TV.

It’s Party Time on the Stockholm-Helsinki Ferry

The party started an hour before the M/S Gabriella ferry slipped out of Stockholm harbor for its overnight voyage to Helsinki. At the outdoor bar on Deck 9, passengers had gathered for the 4 p.m. sailing. Talking excitedly over drinks, they reveled in the Nordic summer weather — bright sun, cool breeze, electric blue sky with cotton-ball clouds — while a D.J. mixed bass-heavy Eurodance and vintage disco. Kids on holiday with their families dashed about.

Going Antiquing in France with Designers Clare Vivier and Kate Berry

When Los Angeles–based designer Clare Vivier began decorating the 19th-century house she'd bought in her husband's hometown of Saint-Calais, in France's Loire Valley, she had a particular aesthetic in mind. “I love color and patterns but wanted something peaceful, so the intention was to create a dialogue between those two things,” she says. She wanted the house to have a blend of contemporary pieces, antiques, and textiles from heritage maisons to create a space that, much like her namesake handbag and fashion label, channeled both California fun and French sophistication. She also knew that she wanted her longtime friend Kate Berry, a designer and creative director, to help her make it happen.

Door decorations on cruises: How to get creative in your cabin corridor

You've likely walked down the endless cabin corridors on a cruise ship only to find that every door looks exactly the same. While it can be challenging to remember your room number (I'm one of those people who's lost for the first few days of a cruise), one way to remember which room is yours is by decorating your door.

Airbnb's Newest Icon Property Is a Life-Sized Polly Pocket Compact

The Barbie craze has come and (not quite) gone, but there’s no end to the ’90s nostalgia that it helped spark. If you missed the opportunity to stay in Barbie’s iconic Malibu DreamHouse, or are just looking for another chance to reconnect with one of your favorite childhood toys, the perfect opportunity is waiting for you. Starting on August 21, guests will have the chance to once again stay at the home of a beloved doll when they head to Littleton, Massachusetts, where they can step into the world of Polly Pocket. The vintage Slumber Party Fun compact has been turned into a larger-than-life-sized home, fit for up to four guests to spend the night. The spectacular 42-foot-tall property is an almost-perfect depiction of one of Polly's first homes (who actually debuted in 1989, but who's counting), and will certainly be one of the most unique Airbnbs guests could imagine staying in.
