Alaska Airlines has renewed its partnership with Air Space Intelligence (ASI) to help optimize the airline’s use of artificial intelligence, along with its path towards reaching its sustainability goals, including its net zero carbon emissions goal.
Alaska Airlines has used ASI’s Flyways AI platform and the Dispatch application in their Network Operations Center for the past four years. Flyways helps dispatchers with flight routes, reducing fuel consumption and carbon emissions. Using Flyways has helped the airline reduce fuel and emissions by 3-5 percent for flights longer than four hours.
Last year alone, Flyways AI saved the airline 1.2 million gallons of fuel, which is the equivalent of 11,958 megatons of CO2 emissions.
"The Flyways AI platform has proven to be an invaluable asset, providing our fantastic dispatch team with a modern aircraft situation display for pre-departure flight planning and en route flight following while achieving fuel savings, reducing carbon emissions, and ensuring a reliable and enjoyable travel experience for our guests," said Captain Bret Peyton, managing director of network operations control, Alaska Airlines.
"Our partnership with Air Space Intelligence underscores our long-term commitment to innovation, running a great operation, technology advancement, and sustainability," continued Captain Peyton.
