Canadian boutique airline Porter doubles down on California with new routes to Montreal

It's been an eventful few months when it comes to U.S. budget carriers' route networks, shifting capacity to reduce their exposure to plummeting fares in prime leisure markets like Florida, especially in Orlando.

Frontier Airlines is doubling down on its strategy shift in 2024 with another round of route announcements.

California residents have a new option for a weekend getaway to Las Vegas.  This week, discount airline Avelo launched a new route from LA’s Hollywood Burbank Airport (BUR) to Las Vegas’ Harry Reid International Airport (LAS). In celebration of the new route, the airline is offering introductory one-way fares for $57. The new flight route begins next month on May 3 just in time for Memorial Day holiday weekend and the summer travel season.

Travelers from the Mile High City will be clocking up the miles with Denver’s newest long-haul service. 

3,300 departures per week, 160 destinations around the globe.

The airline will offer the reactivation of twelve seasonal routes from major U.S. cities during the height of the summer season, including Chicago, Orlando, New York, Las Vegas, Miami, and Washington D.C.

As the largest carrier at Sonoma County Airport since 2007, Alaska Airlines now offering service to seven nonstop destinations.

American Airlines is the latest carrier to ensure inflight Wi-Fi is available from takeoff to touchdown.

Las Vegas has secured a new low-cost, long-haul transatlantic link. The service, which will connect the Nevada city with London, is due to start on September 12.

It will soon be easier and cheaper to fly from Las Vegas to London.  Norse Atlantic Airways is launching a new route from London’s Gatwick Airport to Las Vegas’ Harry Reid International Airport, the airline shared with Travel + Leisure on Thursday. The service will begin on Sept. 12, and operate three times per week. In a nod to the luck that visitors aim to have when visiting Las Vegas, the flight will operate with Norse’s lucky number seven as flight ‘Z0777’. The 9-hour and 50-minute direct route will depart Las Vegas at 4:45pm, and arrive in London Gatwick at 10:35am the following day, local time. The flight will operate on a Boeing 787 Dreamliner aircraft. “We are excited to introduce this new route from London Gatwick to Las Vegas, a unique city that offers unparalleled diversity, boasting an abundance of entertainment, dining, and recreational options to suit every taste,” Norse Atlantic Airways CEO and Founder Bjorn Tore Larsen said in a statement.
