Chase Sapphire Lounges: Exclusive Access and Amenities in 2024

Chase kicked off 2024 by opening not one, but two Chase Sapphire Lounges in New York: The first at LaGuardia Airport (LGA), and the second one at John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK). 

The popular credit card issuer entered the airport lounge market toward the end of 2022, beginning with the Chase Sapphire Lounge by The Club at Hong Kong (HKG) in October 2022. Since then, Chase has also launched the Chase Sapphire Lounge in Boston (BOS) and the Chase Sapphire Terrace in Austin (AUS).

For unlimited visits to the Chase Sapphire Lounges, you must hold either a Chase Sapphire Reserve®, J.P. Morgan Reserve, or The Ritz-Carlton^TM Credit Card with the complimentary Priority Pass membership activated. If you have Priority Pass access from a non-Chase credit card, you'll get one free visit per calendar year, and can purchase access for subsequent visits at $75 apiece.

Separate from Chase Sapphire Lounges, the small Chase Sapphire Terrace at the Austin Airport located above Gate 1 is only accessible to Chase Sapphire Reserve® cardholders; Priority Pass members cannot enter this space.

American Express has been the industry leader for many years with its proprietary, high-end Centurion Lounges. Chase is just one of multiple competitors that have begun launching their own credit card-branded airport lounges. Capital One, for instance, now has three airport lounges open at Dallas-Fort Worth (DFW), Denver (DEN), and Washington Dulles (IAD), with a fourth planned for Las Vegas.

Chase Sapphire Lounges provide a premium experience, with amenities that include "access to exceptional, authentic, and regionally inspired food, drink, art, entertainment, and wellness." Chase's lounges will face stiff competition at some of these airports, because New York, Phoenix, Las Vegas, Philadelphia, and Hong Kong also have Centurion Lounges, which are regarded by many as among the most upscale in the world.

Chase has tightened up admittance rules for entering its proprietary lounges in recent years. Since nearly a dozen popular credit cards offer free airport lounge access, the stringent rules make sense to avoid the crowding often seen at similar Amex Centurion Lounge locations. And Chase is incentivizing potential Sapphire Reserve customers by making entry more exclusive.
