Delta Air Lines is offering a second special path of totality flight ensuring travelers will be able to view the 2024 solar eclipse from the sky after the first flight, DL1218, sold out in under 24 hours.
The new flight, DL1010, will depart from Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport at 12:30 p.m. CT and arrive in Detroit with the other path-of-totality flight, DL1218, at 4:20 p.m. ET. The flight can be booked now on Delta's website.
The flight will be operated on an A321neo, a larger aircraft than the original path-of-totality flight, which will offer more availability for travelers looking to catch a glimpse of the historic solar eclipse from the sky. It offers 20 domestic First Class seats, 42 Delta Comfort+ seats and 132 Main Cabin seats.
The original flight, which flies from Austin to Detroit, piqued a 1,500 percent spike in searches for flights with the same route when it was first announced on February 19.
“The April 8 eclipse is the last total eclipse we’ll see over North America until 2044,” said Warren Weston, Delta Air Lines Lead Meteorologist when the first path-of-totality flight was announced. “This eclipse will last more than twice as long as the one that occurred in 2017, and the path is nearly twice as wide.”
