Botswana Tourism Investment Summit start this morning

The first-ever Botswana Tourism Investment Summit will be held in the country’s capital, Gaborone, from today, the 23rd to the 24th November 2023. This event organized by the International Tourism and Investment Corporation (ITIC) in partnership with World Bank Group’s International Finance Corporation, aims at promoting Botswana as a land of untapped tourism potentials to becoming a major conduit for foreign investment flows to the country. Furthermore, Botswana’s project developers will be connected to investors. Bankable projects in quest of investments will be highlighted through presentations. In addition, the ITIC and BTO teams are preparing up to assist the different parties in brokering joint-ventures, partnership agreements or in entering the shareholding capital of these exciting strategic moves focused on high returns.

International Flight Searches Up 24% for Monsoon Travel

Domestic flight searches in India have increased by around 32 percent and international searches by 24 percent for the monsoon season between June and August, according to Kayak’s latest insights. The increased travel interest comes despite a surge in airfares, up an average 8 percent and 11 percent for domestic and international airfares. The average return economy flight price domestically stands at $130 while the average return economy international flight is priced at $985, the report said.

Is India Adequately Equipped to Handle Massive Jet Orders?

Indian carriers now have the second-largest order book for new planes, with over a 6 percent share of the industry backlog, behind only the U.S., according to a recent Barclays report. Budget carrier IndiGo’s aircraft order for 500 Airbus A320neofamily planes – likely worth $50 billion – has eclipsed Air India’s 470 aircraft order made in February. When added to IndiGo’s substantial backlog totaling 480 jets, questions will arise whether the Indian market can accommodate this number of aircraft, noted IBA, an aviation market intelligence company and consultancy.
