WILTONS CELEBRATES THE START OF THE NATIVE OYSTER SEASON WITH AN EXCLUSIVE OYSTER MASTERCLASS
Starting life as an oyster barrow in London’s Haymarket in 1742, Wiltons restaurant, located on Jermyn Street, has continued to celebrate its love of oysters ever since, with a series of renowned Oyster Masterclasses taking place on the first Friday evening of every month from September to April.
Starting on 5th September 2024, Wiltons’ Oyster Masterclasses will take place in the famous Oyster Bar, from 5.30pm until 7.00pm. The classes will be led by Wiltons’ resident Oyster Master Tommaso Sicuro, who will enchant novices and aficionados alike while debunking the myths surrounding the opening and eating of oysters. Guests will also learn about their health benefits while sampling a range of oysters from around the British Isles.
A dozen oysters – six raw and six cooked - are accompanied by a glass of chilled Champagne and two glasses of sommelier-selected wine for £125 per person.
The Oyster Masterclasses are ideal for a romantic date, as an anniversary or birthday treat, a special experience for food lovers, a Christmas gift, or corporate celebrations and incentives. Both fun and instructive, the Masterclass can be followed by dinner in the main restaurant – either the set menu or a la carte – for guests who wish to continue their evening at Wiltons.

If you’re an avid traveler (and even if not), you’ve probably heard the rumblings that sometime soon the 3.4 oz. TSA liquids rule is going to change. Currently, you’re not allowed to bring containers larger than 3.4 ounces (or 100 ml) of liquids, gels, or aerosols through security. Commonly referred to as the “3-1-1” rule, it traces its origins back to a failed plot in 2006 when terrorists in the U.K. tried to smuggle liquid explosives onto planes. The rules were originally intended to be temporary but nearly 20 years later remain in place.

The musky fragrance of jasmine adorning colorful flower stalls reminded me of how she’d woven them into my braids. She never would again.
