Neutral colors, quality fabrics with few superfluous details, classic cuts, and a dearth of flashy labels—you’ll recognize these as key components of the ‘quiet luxury’ trend. Sparked in part by Succession’s morally questionable yet always stylish Roy family, the understated look has been governing our interior and wardrobe choices for the past couple of years. Now it’s quietly influencing our luggage, too.
Marking a shift away from the futuristic aluminium bodies typically seen on luxury suitcases, leather ranges have been popping up at some of our favourite luggage retailers. Rimowa’s recently launched Distinct range of carry-ons sees its iconic aluminium frames draped in a cloak of elegant pebbled leather. Mulberry also has a new leather-clad line of cases in a colorful array of shades you’d rather expect for its handbags. And, of course, Louis Vuitton’s instantly recognizable designs have always been offered in leather.

It makes sense that these collections are dropping now. Sustainability is an increasingly pertinent consideration for consumers, meaning longevity is a key factor when purchasing. A simple, quality leather handbag can remain a beloved partner for years, so why not choose the same for your luggage? Indeed, Rimowa says it took inspiration from the house’s very earliest designs for this new collection, while working to develop a new wrapping technique to allow the cases to maintain their iconic grooved design.
But that’s not to say there isn’t still a place for aluminium and carbonite luggage on the carousel. These materials offer strength and lightness that likely can’t be matched by heavier counterparts such as leather. For a nod to the trend without going all in, there are brands offering hard shell cases with smart leather trims. Luxury luggage brand Globe Trotter has recently released a new range of its signature vintage-style cases in collaboration with atelier The Vampire's Wife, finished with chunky leather details and suitably vampish scarlet linings.

Alaska Airlines is making it easier to see April’s epic solar eclipse with a series of flights heading to destinations along the path of totality — and they're selling out. The specific routes, which fly to places like Mazatlán, Mexico, Texas, and Ohio, have seen a threefold increase in demand compared to previous years, Alaska Airlines shared with Travel + Leisure. And that increased demand has led to increasingly sold-out flights.
Road trips are the ultimate symbol of freedom, discovery, and the boundless beauty of the US. On many such trips with my family, it has not been just the destinations but also the journey that holds the magic; the open road itself becomes a vehicle for family memories and shared experiences.
Moving overseas can dramatically transform your life.
Think of the classic New England dish, and it's likely your mind will go one of two ways — to the lobster roll, served warm in a hot dog-style bun with lashings of butter and lemon juice, or to clam chowder, served rich, thick and creamy in a steaming bowl, the ultimate comfort food. But if you really want to eat like the Bostonians do, you need to get the lowdown on the culinary scene from a local — and Nia Grace, chef at the Grace by Nia supper club in the Seaport district, knows exactly what's on the city's menu. With intricate creations and twists on New England classics, here are the hottest dishes in Boston right now.
We all deserve a getaway after surviving the cold, wintry weather much of the country has been dealing with for the past few months. Even if you live somewhere that doesn't see cold temperatures, spring break is the perfect time to get out and explore the world. After all, there is only so much time to maximize your annual PTO days or take advantage of school breaks.
This year more folks are prioritizing travel and newfangled experiences. We’re inspired by beloved television shows à la Emily in Paris to reexamine cities we’ve previously visited. Scoring tickets to see our favorite musical artists, like Taylor Swift, fortuitously opens up the prospect of flying to a different country. A rising wellness and longevity movement encourages travelers to seek alcohol-free vacations. Slower and more intentional travel—quality over quantity—is important and sustainability and eco-minded experiences are at the forefront.
