With weather disruptions and constant delays upending the conversation about air travel this summer, it’s actually not all bad news. Many carriers are working to improve what they offer as they invest in new aircraft, lounges and amenities, a welcome change following the pandemic years.
Norwegian Air Expands to Chicago, Austin for Transatlantic Flights

Norwegian Air, the growing low-cost carrier known for low fares to Europe, is adding two new destinations: Chicago, Illinois, and Austin, Texas.
The airline will operate flights from both destinations to London, from where travelers can connect elsewhere in Europe. Service from Chicago begins March 25, 2018, and service from Austin starts two days later.
Norwegian launched service to London in 2015, and has added seven U.S. destinations in the past year. That brings its total number of U.S.-London routes to 11. Norwegian also announced new routes from Boston and Oakland and increased flights from New York to Paris.

Norwegian’s has been a mostly welcome addition to the transatlantic market. Boasting low fares and an a la carte approach to pricing, the airline typically provides good value for customers willing to forego the comforts (so to speak) of mainline carriers. The airline operates a fleet of new Boeing 787 Dreamliner aircraft and, for a price, offers everything customers expect on these longer journeys, including business-class fares.
