Norwegian Cruise Line will call Philadelphia home in 2026, becoming the first cruise line to sail from the city in years.
Starting on April 16, 2026, the company will sail from the City of Brotherly Love to Bermuda, Canada, and New England, Norwegian recently announced. The cruise line will start with seven to nine day sailings to Bermuda on the Norwegian Jewel before adding 10 and 11-day journeys to Canada and New England in the fall.
“We remain committed to delivering more experiences for our guests to create unforgettable memories, so they can vacation better with us,” David J. Herrera, the president of Norwegian Cruise Line, said in a statement. “We are particularly proud to partner with PhilaPort to launch cruising in the area, making it even more accessible to the U.S. Mid-Atlantic region.”
The company will sail from the SouthPort Marine Terminal Complex, becoming the first passenger cruise line to homeport in Philadelphia in years, according to the port. Norwegian plans to sail from Philadelphia through Oct. 17, 2026.
Pennsylvania’s Gov. Josh Shapiro said in a statement the new cruises will give “millions of Pennsylvanians and passengers from across the region… another reason to visit Philadelphia’s waterfront.”
“With all eyes on Philadelphia as we prepare to host our country’s 250th birthday in 2026, the Port will continue to help support and grow Philadelphia tourism to create economic opportunity for our region, workers, and businesses,” Shapiro added.
The Norwegian Jewel was refurbished in 2022 and can accommodate 2,330 passengers, wowing guests with Le Cirque Bijou shows, a 1950’s-themed bar overlooking the pool complete with classic car parts and old gas station signage, and more.
This isn’t the first new East Coast homeport the cruise line has announced this year. Starting in November 2025, the company will also sail from a new home in Jacksonville, Florida, offering trips to ports like St. Thomas and St. John's in the U.S. Virgin Islands, San Juan, Puerto Rico, and to the company’s private island in the Bahamas, Great Stirrup Cay.
