Explora Journeys is launching a partnership with the Louis Vuitton 37th America's Cup and will be sponsoring Emirates Team New Zealand at the prestigious sailing competition later this year.

The arrival of enormous ships, like the 7,000 passenger/3000 crew member Icon of the Seas, is an effective way to promote the cruise industry. But cruise companies are also launching smaller vessels designed to give passengers more individual attention, like the new Explora I from Explora Journeys.

Cruise lines are building a plethora of new ships—and they’re counting on travel advisors to help fill them.

Explora Journeys has ordered two new hydrogen-powered ships from the Italian shipbuilding company, Fincantieri, expected to debut in 2027 and 2028 as the last in the six-ship fleet. 

Explora Journeys, a privately-owned sub-brand of the MSC Group, is applying a “luxury lifestyle hotel” ethos to its Millennial-friendly cruise ships, which will feature Ocean penthouses and residences, in addition to entry-level Ocean suites. 

Explora Journeys has pushed its first ship's maiden cruise to Aug. 1, departing from Copenhagen, Denmark, saying a delivery delay has occurred because certain building materials did not meet safety requirements.
