Sabre's average booking fee was $5.80 in 2023, an 8% year-over-year increase, said CEO Kurt Ekert on Thursday during Sabre's Q4 earnings call.

Sabre has a long way to go to reach the power it had before the pandemic. That was clear from its 2023 annual report, showing its latest financials and other details about the business, including layoffs completed last year and plans for tech investment. 

Sabre said it had positive cash flow in the third quarter for the first time since 2019 – $39 million, a reversal from negative $123 million a year ago. Revenue jumped 12%, driven primarily by an increase in air and hotel bookings. 

Despite uneven demand in 2022, Sabre expects continued overall recovery leading to positive free cash flow for the company by the end of this year. 

Travel technology giant Sabre said on Wednesday that Sean Menke, who has been CEO of the company since 2016, will become executive chair of its board on April 27, at which time its current president, Kurt Ekert, will become its CEO, too.

Sabre is cutting 15 percent of its workforce, part of an effort to save $200 million annually. 

The chief technology officer of Sabre exited the company last month, the latest in a string of c-suite changes and major job cuts.
