The world’s first inland surfing resort is coming to Scotland and will certainly make waves among legions of surf aficionados. Lost Shore Surf Resort opens in the Fall 2024 and will include luxury lodges, unique accommodation pods, restaurants, spa and shopping. But the state-of-the-art Surfing pool is the real highlight.
The resort is set within a 60-acre country park, with a surf lake and enormous wave pool. Fronted by an expansive beachfront, the surfing lagoon will be Europe's largest inland surf destination.
The wave technology was developed by Wavegarden, and is capable of producing up to 1000 customized waves per hour. Surfers will be able to enjoy wave rides of up to 22 seconds, and with more than 20 different varieties of waves for all abilities. Beginners will be able to benefit from tuition from surfing instructors and wetsuits and surfboard hire will be included in the cost.
Luxury accommodations include 3 & 4-bedroom lodges, as well as Armadilla designed Waves and Kurvs that sleep up to 6 people. The Pods are more intimate options in their unique surroundings. Featuring high tech features, including underfloor heating, the waterfront accommodations located on a terraced slope will be adjacent to the food market, and overlooking the whole Cove.
Armadilla Kurvs are designed from the ground up, to be 100% wheelchair friendly. Family Waves are the largest of the lakeside accommodation units, and have a world-class fit and finish to them, with an aesthetic that has to be seen to be believed. Fully fitted kitchens are provided in both the Kurvs and Waves, meaning you can draw (at the touch of a button!) the curtains and have a private night in. Super-King sized bed, bunk bed, and a sofa bed give a maximum capacity of 6 people in both.
Armadilla, manufacturer of eco-friendly, outdoor living is supplying two types of self-catering units including 11 Pods and eight Waves.
Lost Shore is less than half an hour by car to Edinburgh and only 45 minutes from Glasgow. Entry is free and surf lessons begin at 100 euros for three sessions, while lodging in the pods starts at 100 euros per night.

Clustered on the east coast of Scotland are seven tidal pools. These seawater swimming holes are the perfect harnessing of nature, and show how communities have found ways to immerse themselves in their environment for generations. St Monans, for example, sits where the North Sea beats ferociously against the cliffs and much of the coastline is inaccessible—this rectangular body of water, however, offers a safe swim. Traveling between these tidal pools on a road trip is about so much more though. It's an adventure connecting witch folklore, dolphin spotting, forest bathing, rock ‘n’ roll legends, fly fishing, and the most delicious smoked haddock soup you’ve ever eaten.
There are many reasons to make Scotland the place to be in 2024; whether it’s a newly discovered 5,000-year-old tomb in Orkney, or Shetland preparing for its first orbital rocket launch, Scotland offers wow-moments galore. Visitors in 2024 are guaranteed to make unforgettable memories while exploring the country’s vibrant cities and stunning landscapes on new trails, discovering exciting new attractions, resting their heads in dreamy new accommodation and tasting all that Scotland’s larder has to offer.
Some of the best places to visit in Scotland will be instantly familiar to anyone who’s ever gazed at a whisky label or shortbread tin. Think dramatic peaks, lonely glens, lochs, tartan and haggis!
One British childhood winter experience remains the same, despite all the changes of the past century. It’s the one where you gaze out of the window, mesmerised by the falling snow, and start fantasising about building an igloo or a snow cave, then sleeping in it overnight. A few fortunate kids get to follow that up, but for most the fantasy is quickly quashed. The blizzard stops, the snow melts, you lob some slush at your mates then go inside to watch Ski Sunday.
Before we met him, we expected that Matthew Goode would have a certain refined British humor, and it turns out we were right. His success with hit series like Downtown Abbey and The Crown, blockbusters like The King’s Man and Leap Year, and cult films like Match Point and Stoker has not affected the actor’s open and affable attitude. Now he adds another credit to his list as he stars alongside Formula 1 world champion Jenson Button in Hackett's new autumn-winter 2023 campaign.

The sea is crashing on the beach, gulls are squawking in the air and the wind is whispering its eerie tune amid craggy coves. Welcome to a magical Hebridean soundscape not actually found in Scotland’s majestic isles but, rather, in an all-white treatment room in London’s The Dorchester hotel.
The narrow, cobbled streets of San Telmo are slowly coming to life. The Porteños – Buenos Aires residents – are kick-starting a long and lazy four-day weekend with caffeine and medialuna pastries. The autumn air is crisp, as are the white silk floss tree leaves that float down over Plaza Dorrego as a lone bandoneon player warms up his fingers before beginning to busk.
