San Diego has been called “America’s Finest City.” The city is known for its nearly perfect weather, with an average low of 50F in January and a high of 77F in August. San Diego’s beaches, harbor, museums, world-famous zoo and shopping make it a fun visit on business or pleasure.
The newly remodeled Sheraton San Diego Hotel & Marina overlooking San Diego Bay is an urban hotel choice that lets you take it all in while letting you ‘get away from it all.’
Now part of Marriott Bonvoy, the Sheraton is located on Harbor Island, a strip of land between San Diego Airport (SAN) and North San Diego Bay. Half a mile from the airport, the hotel is a block away from Harbor Island Park, a grass strip that circles much of the bay. It’s perfect for watching the harbor traffic, strolling, jogging, bicycling or just thinking in the sunshine.
The Sheraton is not a tiny urban boutique but a 1053-room hotel with multiple amenities. Built in 1972, much of its hundred-million-dollar renovation, including that of the Marina Tower guestrooms and suites, has been completed this year.
The hotel also seems like an ideal space for meetings of up to 500-600 people. It has 127,651 sq ft of newly renovated meeting space, and has four new dining concepts (Rumorosa and the upcoming Brewery X, Strade Café & Market & Sunglow Cabana Bar) for guests or convention delegates to unwind in.
Newly opened, Rumorosa serves Cali-Baja Mexican specialties to customers ranging from couples to groups.
The name "Rumorosa" is derived from the Spanish word for "boisterous” and is said to embody the restaurant's concept, mirroring the winding, mountainous journey from the inland desert to the Baja coast. The menu features inventive and authentic Baja dishes using locally sourced fish from Point Loma such as aguachiles, tortas, and tacos, alongside updated classic Mexican cuisine.
Rumorosa has a resort-style all day bar, and the space doubles for breakfast and lunch as well. There’s also a carry-out coffee shop for snacks as well. The restaurant can handle up to 140, and according to a spokesperson “anticipates many buyouts” for conferences.
The hotel can easily play host to smaller group activities. For example, we had a Mezcal tasting by Hedonistas de la Fe. The small batch mezcal is from hand-harvested agave and made by a 4th generation Maestro Mezcalero. Hedonistas held an event for about 20 at the Sheraton. It’s marketing its premium mezcal in a way similar to how high end single-malt scotch is being sold, with 6-, 10-, 13- and 20-year-old variants. years. The twist is that the agave plant is aged in the ground for those time periods, rather than how Scotch is aged in the barrel.
The location is ideal for a smaller meeting. It’s close to the

Welcome to Santa Barbara, where the sun, sea, and mountains create a coastal paradise like no other. The Chumash people initially inhabited the town for thousands of years before Spanish explorers arrived in the 16th century. Today, Santa Barbara still reflects its Spanish colonial heritage with Mediterranean-style buildings and red-tile roofs, which perfectly complement the natural backdrop of the San Ynez Mountains.
Whether you’re a seasoned pro who will only travel with carry-on luggage, or you’re a vacation maven who loves to bring plenty of options, layers are undoubtably part of the packing equation. Even if a warm and sunny destination is on the horizon, airplanes are often chilly, which requires a sweater or scarf to keep you comfortable while floating from point A to point B. The key is to think ahead and utilize versatile clothing options that are ideal for fickle ever-changing weather, in the air or on the ground.

Amelia Basista and JP Stonestreet call 2015 their "year from hell" — the final straw that sent them packing to South America. Stonestreet was 43 and working as a self-employed web developer when he began experiencing strange nerve pain in his hands, feet, and legs. After a frightening afternoon when he found himself struggling to walk, he got diagnoses of congenital spinal stenosis and degenerative disc disease, conditions that required two major spinal surgeries to correct.

Did you see the total solar eclipse? Despite clouds in some regions, some sky-watchers in Mexico, the U.S. and Canada were able to get clear views of a totally eclipsed sun for as long as 4 minutes 28 seconds in what was the longest totality viewed from land since 2010—and the longest in the U.S. since 1806.
