Looking for somewhere to take your dog in the winter weather? New York City is full of dog-friendly venues open year round, even when a run through the park is less than seasonable. Get out those zoomies, add some new sniffs and take your dog to cafes, shops, bars and gyms designed for and welcoming to dogs who need a little indoor stimulation.
Here’s where to take your (well-behaved) dog when the weather outside isn’t cooperating:
Boris & Horton
This cafe for humans and dogs has locations in the East Village and Williamsburg. A humans-only side vends specialty coffee, espresso drinks and light bites, including pastries, grain bowls and more. On the dog side, pets can run free, shop the boutique for outfits and treats, and browse the cookie case for special dog items such as sweet potato fries, biscuits and seasonally decorated treats.
Zoom Room
New to New York as of November 2023, this indoor training center in Chelsea offers obedience classes, as well as agility workshops, playgroups, dog dym sessions and more, for both pets and their owners. Dogs and humans must start with an obedience class or skip a grade and go for an evaluation to be allowed to sign up for group activities.
Petco Flagship
Petco’s new Union Square flagship offers two levels of browsing, sniffing and shopping for humans and pets alike. On the ground floor, dogs can sample meals from Petco’s kitchen, take a bath, and pick out New York specific apparel and dog gear. Customized dog outfits are also available. Upstairs, find essentials like food, toys, more gear and reptiles to look at. Petco also offers in-store training and Canine Good Citizen classes.
Château le Woof
The only dog cafe in Queens, this chic space in Astoria lets dogs roam free while their owners mingle, work or watch an event. Visit for brunch, where dogs get their own menu (think peanut butter pancakes or chicken and yak cheese waffles) and humans get a free mimosa along with a vegetarian menu.
Sniff ‘n Seek
Indoor hide and seek for dogs is very much a thing on the Upper East Side. A loft is transformed into a barn-like setting, full of hay, for dogs of all sizes to engage in barn hunt, a new sport for canines. City dogs will seek out hidden objects while their humans watch and cheer them on.

I typically start to think about spring cocktails in the depths of winter. And let me tell you: It’s a wonderful little project to be working on. There’s no better way to spend the bleak, dark months of January than taking some time in the kitchen to tinker with bright and buoyant cocktail recipes that remind you of warmer times ahead: longer days, spring produce, flowers, and all that fun stuff. It’s certainly a lot more fun than participating in Dry January—or as I like to call it, thirty-one days of misery.
Tourists and residents alike can take advantage of the many cruises that depart from New York City, offering easy access to warm weather getaways, family vacations, expeditions, and more. After all, nothing screams adventure like sailing away from the Big Apple with the Statue of Liberty and iconic city skyline in your wake.
Train lovers everywhere wait all year for Hudson River Rail's annual excursions that allow passengers to relive the historic splendor of the 20th Century Limited express passenger train, once billed as the “most famous train in the world.” The popular rail journeys sell out every year—and last year, tickets were snapped up in minutes.

Deciding where to see the total solar eclipse in New York is difficult when there are so many spectacular options. The path of totality—just 110 miles wide—crosses the state's northwest, home to the vast minority of New York's 20 million people.
The Olivier Award winning new production of Cabaret, Cabaret at the Kit Kat Club, a transfer from London's West End, is projected to be one of the hottest shows on Broadway when it opens in April. What that means: getting tickets is not going to be easy but one of the best ways to achieve that could be through the Broadway VIP Experience also launching that month at the Mandarin Oriental, New York. With a two night stay, this promotion includes two prime orchestra seats, a meet and greet with a starring cast member at the MO Lounge and a special gift from the show to take home.
Chances are, if you've spent any time on TikTok, have a vague interest in health foods, have watched season two of "You," or have a working knowledge of Los Angeles culture and Hailey Bieber, you've heard of Erewhon.

Presiding over Manhattan since 1930, the Empire State Building is as emblematic of New York City as the Statue of Liberty. Observatories are installed on the 86th and 102nd floors but the experience starts at street level where craning your neck up the length of the Art Deco tower is a traveler’s rite of passage. Skip the subway and stay at one of these Manhattan Airbnbs near the Empire State Building.
