Big Sky, Montana is the hottest ski resort in the nation right now. It’s in the midst of an unprecedented multi-decade infrastructure and improvement program that has given it the most advanced lift system in North America, new hotels, restaurants and enhancements everywhere you look. Its second home market has exploded, celebrities have flocked here, and it is interconnected with the nation’s most notable luxury private ski communities, the Yellowstone Club, Moonlight Basin and Spanish Peaks. Big Sky is the second largest resort in the country, has room to potentially expand further, and is famously uncrowded in an industry plagued by crowds and long lift lines. The first ever mountain resort from top-tier luxury brand One & Only is coming next year, along with one of the world’s most advanced lifts.
Montana’s Lone Mountain Ranch, an upscale boutique dude ranch, has been ranked the Number One Nordic Ski Resort in North America by Cross Country Skier magazine (as well as the Orvis Endorsed Fly Fishing Lodge of the Year Award). With trails for classic, skating and snowshoeing, its very elaborate system spans a staggering 52 miles.
Both of these are world-class ski resorts, one for alpine, one for Nordic. But what makes them even more special is that they are in the same place.
There are other excellent downhill ski resorts, and there are more luxurious guest ranches with extensive Nordic systems (but not this extensive), but none of these are co-located. Lone Mountain Ranch is the only premier guest ranch (aka dude ranch) you will find at a major destination alpine resort in this country. That makes for a very different—and truly one-of-a-kind—winter vacation. This is a fantastic experience for both couples and families.
I’ve been writing on ski travel for 30 years, and given Big Sky’s immense size and stature, I’d been there a few times before (read my most recent in-depth piece here at Forbes.com). I’ve been to other top dude ranches in winter, a “secret season” for these properties that are much busier in the peak summer months. But I just visited Lone Mountain Ranch for the first time to experience America’s great two-in-one ski vacation, and it did not disappoint.
There are many ways to combine these two unique properties. Lots of guests simply stay at Lone Mountain and use it as a base for a “regular” alpine ski vacation, as it is just a few minutes from the main base of the Big Sky ski resort—the only base area in North America served by two high-speed bubble chairlifts, six and eight-passenger respectively, which instantly dispels crowds. Lone Mountain runs both scheduled shuttles and on-demand SUV transfers back and forth from the ski resort, so you can stay here and use the property just like

Civitatis, the leading platform in online distribution of guided tours, activities, and excursions in Spanish language across 160 countries worldwide, this week the company has reached one million reservations from Mexican users, with 94% of those travelling abroad outside Mexico. During its participation in the 48th edition of the Tianguis Turístico in Acapulco taking place in Mexico, Civitatis took the opportunity to announce its exponential growth in the country and the desire of Mexican travellers to explore countries outside the country. In terms of countries that Mexicans are visiting, Spain holds the first position, followed by Italy, France, and the United Kingdom and the USA. This ranking indicates the trend of Mexicans travelling towards Europe and the USA, which is ahead of other LATAM destinations such as Colombia or Peru. Meanwhile, the top favourite outbound cities for Mexicans are Paris, Rome, Madrid, Barcelona, and London, with most reservations concentrated in those cities. Breaking down further the one million reservations from Mexicans, 28 percent made a reservation as a couple, while 17.8 percent were solo travellers.
It'll be two decades before the next total solar eclipse hits the US.

A common adage among frequent flyers and points and miles fans is “earn ’em and burn ’em.” This philosophy centers around the fact that these currencies rarely appreciate in value the way traditional investments might. Instead, they almost always diminish in value as airline loyalty programs raise the price of awards over time—so you might as well spend them right off the bat.
