With 23 hotels and resorts in 18 countries around the world and counting, Six Senses Kyoto will make its grand debut in Japan this April.
Nestled amongst Kyoto’s picturesque alleyways, tea shops and temples, Six Senses Kyoto will officially open its doors for the first time in Japan at the end of April.
Set in a prime location within Kyoto’s Higashiyama district, the new urban resort is within easy walking distance to some of the city’s top attractions including Myoho-in Temple, Kyoto National Museum and Sanjusangen-do Buddhist Temple and marks the brands first foray into the Japanese market.
“We are thrilled to announce our debut Six Senses opening in Japan,” General Manager Nicolas Black said in a statement around the opening. “There couldn't be a more fitting location than Kyoto in the cultural heart of Japan, where age-old sustainability traditions thrive, and well-being is deeply ingrained in the way of life."
Part of IHG Hotels & Resorts, Six Senses currently operates 23 hotels and resorts in 18 countries around the world and currently has 43 properties in the development pipeline.
Here’s a look at what you can expect on your next visit.
Spread across six-stories, Six Senses Kyoto will offer 81 spacious guest rooms and suites. With the option to book a room with views over the properties tranquil courtyard, gardens of the neighboring Toyokuni Shrine, or a panorama of city views over the treetops and temples, every room has been designed with rest and relaxation in mind.
Every room will also come kitted out with a pillow menu and Naturalmat organic mattress, organic cotton bathrobes, and a fully stocked minibar with locally sourced and homemade snacks for purchase.
The decor, which draws heavily on authentic Japanese traditions, includes unique details and design touches that have been inspired by local Japanese stories and folklore. Interiors have been crafted with clean lines and an “organic earthy” color palette, according to the release.
At the heart of the the property, Six Senses Spa will blend traditional healing with Japanese Zen culture to create one of a kind wellness experiences.
With a range of treatments and wellness traditions rooted in Kyoto’s culture, spa houses include a mix of traditional male and female baths, an indoor pool, gym and Biohack Recovery Lounge as well as a sensory suite. Other wellness activities include a Japanese and Herbal Tea Lounge, yoga, aerial yoga and meditation, as well as an Alchemy Bar to blend your own beauty scrubs before your treatment.
