What better time to try new restaurants, bars and shows than springtime in New York City? We’ve said goodbye to the winter cold and the sweltering summer heat is still a few weeks away, making it the ideal season to explore. Whether you’re local or visiting the city from abroad, here are some great venues and experiences to try.
1. San Sabino
Entering the bright yellow space of San Sabino feels like walking into a sun-drenched, beachside Golden Hour, even on a rainy day. This new Italian-American restaurant comes from husband-and-wife duo Angie Rito and Scott Tacinelli, in partnership with Quality Branded and focuses on handmade pastas and seafood. This West Village spot shines with its use of bold flavors and textures, re-imagining classic dishes for today’s diner. Their Insalata Louie features shrimp dressed in a spicy pepperoncini remoulade, a far cry from the bland mayonnaise-laden shrimp salads we’ve all had. Their stuffed farfalle with smoked chili crab are pillowy and rich, topped with tobiko to add an unexpected crunch. For drinks, don’t forget to try their Scottie’s Martini which is made with garlic bread-flavored vodka, spicy brine and giant olives — a dream for savory cocktail lovers.
2. Chez Francis
Having opened in November 2023, this restaurant is the “oldest” one on this list and if you haven’t visited yet, you definitely should. This Parisian-style brasserie in NoMad is the brainchild of Francis Staub, the creator of the beloved Staub enamel cast-iron cookware. The restaurant occupies the former Les Halles space and dazzles with cart service and table-side presentations — try their Steak au Poivre which is cooked with a cognac flame to wow your palate and your eyes. On a chillier day, their French onion soup feels like a warm hug and is made to perfection with an abundant but not overwhelming amount of cheese.
3. Maki a Mano
There’s no shortage of restaurants inside of Chelsea Market but Maki a Mano shines with tasteful design, excellent hand rolls, and a hidden bar, N’Between, that will stop you in your tracks (you just need to know where to find it). The circular bar seating allows you to look on while your dishes are being made; you’ll be mesmerized by your first appetizer, their golden-hued beet and aji amarillo ceviche. Then it’s time to sample the hand rolls which are placed directly into your hands and the perfect size. You can’t go wrong with ordering one of their sets but definitely also opt for some of their standalone pieces like their spicy crab or fatty tuna and caviar hand roll. Fancy a cocktail after your meal? Head to the tucked away bar for some drinks and to enjoy the stunning space.

Last year, Air France rolled out a swanky new business class on its new Boeing 777-300s, with lie-flat seats, 4K high-definition screens, and sommelier-selected wine. This year, the French flag carrier is continuing to invest in its premium service, upping the ante with new upgrades to its celebrated first-class product, La Première.
It's more than just a diamond jubilee and legacy chatter these days for Accor's Sofitel. This 60-year-old brand is just getting started with a new era of growth and renovation.
Upstate New York's Hudson and Beacon, Montauk at the tip of Long Island—you’ve heard those names before. And while they’re all perfectly lovely New York City day trips or getaways, there’s a whole host of new hotels, restaurants, and things to do and see outside the five boroughs well beyond those highly trafficked hotspots. Here, we’ve rounded up four incredible upstate New York getaways that should go on your calendar this summer.
June is officially Pride month, and it's not too late to make travel plans to celebrate Pride in major cities nationwide (or book an LGBTQIA+ cruise). Hotel rates and airfare may be higher this short in advance, but you can save money by using points and miles. We found an array of flight and hotel options that can still be booked with points at a good value. Pride is a wonderful celebration of equality, freedom and sacrifice, and any of these events would make for a fun weekend getaway.
In New York City, summer is the season for festivals and festivities, rooftops and sidewalks, long lunches and longer weekends. The city’s pace may slow down, but the influx of tourists picks up. The New York City Tourism Bureau estimates that the five boroughs will welcome 64.5 million visitors in 2024. So, it’s safe to assume that many of the city’s most famous attractions will be packed.
Flying into New York City is an exciting but sometimes confusing voyage. The New York metro area has three major airports, as well as several smaller airports, and various airline options, public transit options and connections between all of them. Depending on where you’re looking to end up in New York City, how much you want to spend and what types of flexibility or amenities you’re looking for, you can decide between the city’s two international airports, LaGuardia International Airport (LGA) or John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK), both in Queens, or Newark International Airport (EWR) in Newark, New Jersey. Here’s how to choose.
Next week, we will be hosting two back-to-back events in New York City. Happening consecutively on June 4th and 5th, the Skift Data + AI Summit and the Skift Short-Term Rental Summit will bring together the brightest minds in travel technology, data science, generative AI, and hospitality.
