Low-cost airline Breeze Airways is adding to its warm-weather routes next year with seasonal flights from Connecticut to Orlando and new service from the New England state to Orange County, California.
Starting May 29, 2024, the airline will launch nonstop service from Hartford to Orlando three times each week, Breeze shared with Travel + Leisure. The flight will be operated on an Airbus A220-300 aircraft on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Saturdays.
On the same day, Breeze will also launch flights from Hartford to Orange County-Santa Ana in California five times each week. That route will be considered a “BreezeThru service” in which there is a stopover, but travelers don’t need to change planes.
“Breeze has served Bradley International Airport since our very first day of operations and Hartford was one of our first few bases of operations,” Breeze Airways President Tom Doxey said in a statement shared with T+L. “These two new routes to Orlando and Orange County will connect our guests with two great family friendly destinations – and access to both Disney parks!”
To celebrate the new routes, Breeze is offering fares between Hartford and Orlando starting at just $59 one way for its “Nice” seats. The sale must be booked by 11:59 p.m. ET on Dec. 18 and is valid on travel on Tuesdays and Wednesdays from May 29, 2024, through Sept. 3, 2024.
In addition, Breeze is offering 35 percent off nearly all roundtrip base fares from Hartford by using the promo code “FAROUT” at checkout. That promotion is available until 11:59 p.m. ET on Dec. 14 and is valid on travel from Dec. 18 through Sept. 1, 2024. This sale excludes travel between Hartford and Orlando and excludes blackout dates from Dec. 21 to Dec. 23, and from Dec. 26 to Jan. 2, 2024.
The airline, which was created in 2021 by former JetBlue founder and current Breeze CEO David Neeleman and continues to rapidly expand, flies to 45 cities in 26 states. The airline uses a low-cost model with three fare options: “Nice,” “Nicer,” and “Nicest” (which includes Breeze Ascent, which comes with perks like checked baggage, complimentary snacks and beverages, and in-seat AC power and USB and USB-C charging ports).
Recently, the airline started seeking approval from the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) to eventually fly to international warm-weather destinations and parts of Europe.

In the U.S. state of California, the northern valley named Napa includes a wine scene under constant transformation. Establishments change ownership, new talent arrives and well known names depart. During 2023, for example, Rombauer Vineyards sold their brand (as well as many of their facilities and more than a square mile of vineyards—located not only in Napa Valley but at other northern California regions) to E&J Gallo’s Luxury Wine Group; Miljenko (Mike) Grgich, who crafted the iconic Chardonnay that brought fame to Chateau Montelena in the 1970’s, passed away; the Napa Valley Wine Train celebrated its 30th anniversary, while the Napa Valley Wine Trolley (a replica of a tram car from San Francisco) reopened at Castello di Amorosa after years of Covid-19 related closure. Also in 2023, the county approved the first ever proposed ‘micro-winery’ (Goel Estate Vineyards) with criteria that include that it not produce more than 5,000 gallons of wine per year and that the owners grow 75% of grapes used for fermentation onsite.

There are train journeys where one just gazes at hills rolling by beyond the carriage window. I love such routes, be they in the Alps, Iberia or the Balkans. Things are different in the Netherlands, where pancake-flat landscapes dominate. Yet even in the flatlands there is often visual drama. The rail routes skirting Dutch heathlands around Apeldoorn are wonderful. And there is a subtle beauty, especially at low sun angles, to the secondary railways which follow the River IJssel downstream from Zutphen to Zwolle.
