Delta has all eyes on Austin next spring with a record flight schedule to the Texas capital.
The airline has filed new routes to Austin-Bergstrom International Airport (AUS), which will position the city as a “key access point to facilitate connections,” according to Delta. While this major expansion doesn’t grant Austin as official “hub” status, Delta will see a 20 percent seat capacity increase.
Starting April 22, the airline will inaugurate a 3x-daily flight from Austin-Bergstrom International Airport (AUS) to Nashville, competing with American Airlines and Southwest Airlines on the route.
Delta will also connect smaller Texas cities to the capital by offering 3x daily service from Midland International Air & Space Port and McAllen International Airport. By offering regional service within Texas, travelers can connect to nearly 50 domestic flights and even international destinations on Delta and its SkyTeam partners like Amsterdam and Mexico City.

Along with these new routes, Delta will increase frequencies on existing routes to Cincinnati and Raleigh-Durham, beefing up service up to 2x and 3x daily, respectively. All of these new and increased flights will be flown on Delta’s regional jet partners Endeavor and SkyWest.
«This expansion not only creates an access point to diverse opportunities for business, leisure, and cultural exploration spanning Texas and beyond but also solidifies Delta’s commitment to being a key player in Austin’s evolving landscape,” said Joe Esposito, Delta’s senior vice president of network planning in a statement. “Austin is growing rapidly, and this 20% increase in capacity mirrors that growth as we look to provide our customers with unparalleled convenience in the region.”
The news comes over a month after American Airlines decided to pull back on nearly two dozen routes from Austin, where the carrier first introduced a batch of leisure destinations during the pandemic. Most of these new routes will halt in early 2024, around the time Delta will introduce these new flights and its “largest Austin schedule ever.”
Beyond Austin, Delta is on the move next year with new trans-Pacific routes from Los Angeles to New Zealand and Seattle to Taipei, the latter subject to government approval.

Travelers who live in South Florida rarely take for granted the warm weather and world-class restaurants available in the region, but enjoying that means sometimes it’s easy to forget how close Miami is to some of the most exciting destinations in the world. While people in the rest of America needs extended vacation time to visit countries like Dominica and Ecuador, Miamians can wake up, jump on a direct flight from Miami, and be in a new country in time for dinner (or maybe even lunch). And if someone in Miami gets a hankering to head to Europe, most of the continent is only an overnight flight away.
