Delta Air Lines announced it would launch a new seasonal service between Orlando International Airport and London Heathrow Airport (LHR), starting on October 26.
When the new European route begins, Orlando will become Delta’s only direct service from Florida to the United Kingdom and the airline’s eighth destination served nonstop from London for the winter season.
Delta’s new route will also complement Virgin Atlantic’s existing Orlando to London Heathrow daily service. The new route also bolsters the carrier’s expanding network between Florida and Europe, with current winter service from Orlando to Amsterdam and the newly announced service from Tampa to Amsterdam.
“In partnership with Virgin Atlantic, our new route between Orlando and London seamlessly connects two diverse destinations, offering customers a wealth of experiences on both sides of the Atlantic,” Delta Senior Vice President Matteo Curcio said.
“Floridians can explore London’s historic landmarks like Buckingham Palace and enjoy world-class dining, while Londoners can escape to the sunny beaches and world-famous attractions of Orlando,” Curcio continued.
Delta’s new Orlando-London route will operate four times weekly until March 29 using an A330-900neo featuring Delta One Suites, Delta Premium Select, Delta Comfort+ and Main Cabin experiences.
Last week, Delta revealed it would fly its largest selection of flights from Minneapolis-Saint Paul (MSP) to the Caribbean and Latin America this winter, with new routes to Aruba and St. Maarten, as well as expanded service to popular destinations, including Grand Cayman and San Juan, Puerto Rico.
This winter, Delta will begin offering new flights from MSP to Oranjestad, Aruba (AUA) on Fridays and Saturdays and from MSP to Princess Juliana International Airport (SXM) in St. Maarten on Thursdays and Saturdays.
