During Euro 2024’s final stages, easyJet keeps passengers updated with live match scores via ACARS, enhancing the onboard experience for football fans traveling during the games.
As the Euro 2024 reaches the final stages, easyJet has announced it is keeping passengers updated with the latest scores of the semi-final and final matches onboard.
With England or the Netherlands set to go head-to-head this evening for the remaining place in the final against Spain, the winners of last night semi-final, easyJet customers onboard flights to and from these countries during the matches are being provided with scores directly from the airline’s Operations Control Centre at London Luton Airport.
The scores are being relayed via Aircraft Communications Addressing and Reporting System (ACARS) messages – the only way to communicate with easyJet’s aircraft flying at 38,000 feet, to airborne aircraft which can then be announced from the flight deck to passengers.
So whether passengers are ever-expectant England fans who’ve been waiting patiently for 50 years to end the trophy drought or the expectant Spanish or Dutch attempting to reclaim it, participating pilots will be able to make announcements following final whistles of these crunch games.
For those who wish to catch up with the action after they land and don’t want to know the score, there will also be a ‘Match of the Day’ style spoiler alert ahead of any announcement.
easyJet’s Director of Flight Operations, Bart Prudon, said: “As Europe’s leading airline operating hundreds of flights across Europe from the four remaining nations, our pilots will be ensuring hundreds of fans flying during the tournaments final games can receive the scores as football fever grips Europe this summer.”
easyJet added hundreds of additional seats from the UK to Germany ahead of the tournament kicking off, to provide more choice for customers seen an increase in demand from customers for flights to and from German cities hosting European Championship games as football fans travel to matches from all across Europe.
