Perla La Paz, Tapestry Collection by Hilton and Tropicana Los Cabos, Tapestry Collection by Hilton mark the brand’s arrival in the region adding to the company’s Baja California portfolio of award‑winning hotels.
BAJA CALIFORNIA, MEXICO and MCLEAN, VA. – Gobal hospitality leader Hilton announced the signings of two franchise agreements for the upcoming conversions of the 90-room Perla La Paz, Tapestry Collection by Hilton in La Paz and 70-room Tropicana Los Cabos, Tapestry Collection by Hilton in San Jose del Cabo. Expected to open in early 2024, the properties will mark the debut of Tapestry Collection by Hilton in Baja California, Mexico. Onirius Hospitality Advisors served as the principal advisor for the development and launch of both hotels.
The latest additions to the company’s portfolio continue to build upon Hilton’s deep-rooted commitment to growing its presence and unrivaled offerings for all types of travelers in Mexico, where Hilton has 90 hotels open and approximately 30 in the development pipeline.
“The Pacific Coast of Mexico represents an integral role in Hilton’s larger organic growth strategy across this diverse destination as we look to bolster our presence with world-class brands and add to our portfolio of award-winning hotels in Baja California,” said Mario Carbone, managing director, development, Mexico and Central America, Hilton. “These two important hotel conversions propel our vision forward of introducing new brands in new destinations while providing value for our owners and catering to our evolving guests’ needs.”
“Both Perla La Paz and Tropicana Los Cabos will be great additions to our expanding Tapestry Collection by Hilton portfolio across Mexico and the brand’s global portfolio of over 115 hotels currently welcoming guests around the world with more than 100 under development,” said Jenna Hackett, brand leader, Tapestry Collection by Hilton. “Both of these unique properties encapsulate the vibrant personality of La Paz and San Jose del Cabo respectively and we look forward to offering guests authentic experiences at each property as they explore Baja California.”
Built in 1940, the historic 90-room Hotel Perla recently underwent a $10 million renovation and is expected to join the Hilton portfolio as Perla La Paz, Tapestry Collection by Hilton in early 2024. Known as a legendary hotel, Perla La Paz will continue to represent classic La Paz style with a nod to its Art Deco history and modernization of the city. Located in the golden zone of La Paz’s boardwalk, it is central to the charming city’s restaurants and attractions alongside sweeping vistas of the Gulf of California and Ensenada de La Paz.

The Yucatan peninsula has welcomed the first part of a new tourist train that's being constructed to connect the region’s many resorts and archeological sites.Mexico’s President Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador attended opening ceremonies on Friday for what will ultimately be a 950-mile train line, which has been named the Maya Train. The $20 billion project is expected to be complete by February, according to a report from Associated Press. Once finished, the train will operate a rough loop around the Yucatan peninsula.The rail segment opened right now runs between the colonial Gulf coast city of Campeche and the popular tourist destination of Cancun. It's a stretch of train line that amounts to about one-third of the entire project.The train journey between Campeche and Cancun will take about 5 1/2 hours. The train will travel at an average speed of 50 miles per hour, Associated Press reported.
