Christmas Eve is Sunday, December 24. And while Sundays aren’t typically the hardest nights to grab reservations, the holiday is changing things up, with plenty of top restaurants already fully booked. If you procrastinated, have a change of plans or just want to leave the cooking (and cleaning) to the pros, there are still plenty of great options to dine out in New York City this Christmas Eve. Here’s where to go:
Chef Hillary Sterling’s Italian restaurant in Midtown is often fully booked, but spots are still available for a Feast of the Seven Fishes, served family style, with the option of a Feast of the Seven Vegetables for all vegetarians. Dishes for the $168-per-person feast include marinated squid, whipped smoked fish, spaghetti with anchovies and breadcrumbs, and baccala. Finish the meal with grilled panettone, topped with fiore di latte and grapefruit. Reservations via Resy
Head to the West Village for chef Wolfgang Ban’s Austrian-influenced menu, plus festive additions just for Christmas Eve, including black truffle linguine and Berkshire pork chop. Reservations via Resy.
The scene-y SoHo’s seafood destination is offering a “Feast of the Seven Fishes” with special items including hiramasa sashimi, littleneck clam toast, crab ravioli and seared black bass. Reservations via Resy.
Head to Flatiron for a creative contemporary Korean dining experience with New York vibes. A special 7-course tasting menu will go for $245 per person. The iconic Manhattan restaurant will be hosting their Second Annual Christmas Eve Feast of the Seven Fishes, inspired by Chef Lena Ciardullo and her fellow team members’ Christmas Eve traditions and family recipes. Highlights of the $195 prix fixe will include an Ossetra caviar course (served with potato focaccia, duck fat tater tots, and crème fraiche), Caesar salad with bottarga, bluefin tuna crudo, calamari fritti, lobster fra diavolo and jumbo shrimp scampi. Finish off the meal with Nonna's struffoli, inspired by the pastry chef's grandma's recipe. Reservations via Resy
Just blocks from the Rockefeller Tree, Sea Fire Grill will celebrate Christmas Eve with a contemporary spin on the traditional Feast of the Seven Fishes for $149 per person. Begin with a choice of starter: a lavish crudo assortment featuring Scottish salmon, yellowfin tuna, scallops, and Caviar or oysters elevated with a touch of caviar. Followed by the second course of squid ink spaghetti with fresh Maine lobster and crab meat. For the main course, choose from three options: the elegantly roasted Mediterranean branzino with

London couple Fiona Evans and Josh Chan knew pretty early into wedding planning that the typical big English celebration wasn’t for them. “We started looking at venues, and in the United Kingdom, they're very expensive and they have a long waiting time—18 months to two years,” says Fiona, who works in tech. “We didn’t really fancy that.”

Few traditions are as cherished and timeless as the annual performance of George Balanchine’s The Nutcracker by the New York City Ballet, which will be performing through December 31, 2023. This beloved production has become an integral part of the holiday festivities, attracting over 100,000 spectators annually.
Let’s face it: most restaurants located in Times Square are usually tourist traps with overpriced, mediocre food, especially “red sauce” Italian joints. Diehard New Yorkers— me among them—typically avoid dining in the area at all costs and gravitate to other hip local spots instead.
“That’s the restaurant I could never get into in Rome,” said the woman walking behind me on Soho’s MacDougal Street to her friend. “Now I can’t get into the one in New York either.” Roscioli, the restaurant in question, a mixed street level trattoria/salumeria and basement level tasting menu dining room has definitely been a tough table to get since its phased opening: the downstairs dining room in July and the A La Carte street level space in October. But for those who persevere (for walk in tables and a few reservations on Resy), lively, authentic, classic dishes will transport them instantly to Rome.
New York City is practically synonymous with New Year’s Eve. The entire world watches and waits for the ball to drop in Times Square, while revelers at the crossroads of the world and across the boroughs celebrate the upcoming New Year. Plenty of restaurants far away from the chaos are also hosting celebrations for festive meals, toasts and a fun ambiance to ring in the 2024. Here’s where to celebrate:
Christmas pudding may be Britain’s best-known festive dessert, but in France, the bûche de Noël — or yule log — reigns supreme, with skilled pâtissiers and home bakers creating an array of different versions, from the classic to the outré.
