The Dean Hotel Group, which runs a handful of high-end properties in Ireland, has sold a majority stake to an investment vehicle backed by Elliott Management.

Activist investor Elliott Investment Management slammed Southwest on its weaker second-quarter financial outlook on Wednesday. 

Southwest CEO Bob Jordan said he doesn’t plan to resign following activist fund Elliott Investment Management’s calls for a major leadership change at the airline, according to a report from Reuters. 

Southwest Airlines is doubling down on its strategy after Elliott Investment Management, an activist fund, took a $2 billion stake in the company. 

Southwest Airlines touts itself as the "LUV" carrier, with its two free checked bags and comedic flight crews — a strategy that revolutionized low-cost air travel and earned the carrier a 47-year profitability streak from 1973 to 2019.

Elliott Investment Management, an activist fund, has built a nearly $2 billion stake in Southwest Airlines, The Wall Street Journal reported — citing sources. 

Travelport said Monday that it has raised $570 million in new equity from investors.
