Traditional hospitality brands have risen to the disruption challenge of the short-term rental market. One such brand is Marriott International.

India-based budget hotel operator and aggregator Oyo said it will add over 1,000 hotels to support over 100 first-generation hoteliers’ growthby December this year as part of its accelerator program. The company launched the program in March with a target of supporting 50 first-generation hoteliers. Hotel owners with more than five running hotels are eligible to be a part of the program. 

More and more designers believe lighting is critical in making hotel lobbies more inviting because of a next-gen traveler demand for more social interaction and blended travel. The Westin Puntacana Resort & Club renovation is an example worth spotlighting.

One under-recognized reason Marriott International raised its 2023 outlook for profitability on Tuesday was that its hotels are nearly all premium or better.

When Trilogy Hotel Montgomery, Autograph Collection, opened this spring in Montgomery, Alabama, it claimed to be the city’s first boutique hotel. The property is attempting to cater to what local tourism officials call “purposeful travel,” suggesting an approach that might inspire hoteliers in other small cities with similarly rich histories.
