Road warriors have a new reason to celebrate for the weekend.
National Rental Car recently launched a new promotion where members of their Emerald Club loyalty program can earn double credits on all weekend rentals from April 4 to June 9. The promotion provides the credits for rentals that are picked up on a Thursday, Friday, or Saturday and returned on a Sunday.
Membership into the Emerald Club program is free, and helps travelers earn credits toward future car rentals.
For example, members earn one rental credit for each rental contract, and can earn a free rental day after seven credits. With this double credit promotion, travelers can earn the credits faster.
National Rental Car is known for their «Emerald Aisle» offering where customers can skip the visit to a counter and go directly to the aisle and choose any car they want.
Customers register their license information on the website or App in advance of a rental, and their identity is confirmed by an attendant as they drive off the parking lot.
Additionally, for travelers looking to save money on their next rental, National offers «Last Minute Specials» at select locations, so it may be worth visiting their deal page to get the savings. Regardless of the specials, the price of car rental has been steadily declining, and is currently 8.4 percent cheaper than a year ago, according to BLS data.
National Rental Cars is owned by Enterprise Mobility, which also owns rental car brands Enterprise and Alamo.

What’s more American than a road trip? Like blue jeans and apple pie, it's so embedded in the culture that travelers from around the world plan a road trip just to experience our open highways and byways. From the iconic Route 66 stretching across the heartland to the rugged beauty of the Pacific Coast Highway, the US has no shortage of scenic routes. At its most basic, Brown says, road tripping is about freedom.
The totality of an eclipse is never long enough. My first total solar eclipse experience in 2017 made for the shortest two minutes of my life: the sun transforming into a blazing diamond ring, the beautiful delirium of darkness, that perfect circle in the sky. Before I knew it, the eclipse was over—and my friends and I were plotting how we could catch our next.

We’d love to hear about your favourite journeys in Europe – where did you go and what made it so special? The best tip will win a holiday voucher.
Are you still a little giddy from the magical moments of totality during Monday’s solar eclipse? Or did clouds swoop in to block your view? Maybe you just couldn’t make it to the path of totality this time. No matter what, the question now is “Where and when will it happen again?”
