Delta Air Lines is expecting a busy summer as it prepares to start rolling out its biggest-ever international schedule.
Delta officials predict that the airline will carry nearly three million passengers during the Memorial Day holiday travel period, the traditional start of summer. That would be a five percent increase from 2023.
The Memorial Day travel period runs from May 23 to May 27.
The carrier is also introducing several enhancements to its fleet, notably the Delta Digital ID. This innovative feature, available for passengers departing from Atlanta, Detroit, Los Angeles, LaGuardia and New York-JFK, is designed to expedite the security process, ensuring a seamless travel experience.
In addition, Delta recently debuted the most comprehensive update since 2019 to its Fly Delta app with Fly Delta 6.0, introducing a suite of improvements aimed at enhancing efficiency. There will be more than 1,770 weekly flights to 80 international destinations — a six percent capacity increase in both domestic and international seats versus 2023.
The destinations include daily flights to Tulum, which opened its new airport in December, making the Mexican Riviera more available. Atlanta might be the airline's headquarters, but Delta will operate its largest summer schedule in 10 years out of JFK in New York.
In total, between February and July, Delta will have launched and reinstated over 80 routes, perfect for summer getaways. Check with the carrier to see when and from what departure city your destination is available.
